Seems it was fine back in the day when an artist or track was described as 'dark'.
It's when 'dark' became a genre name that all the fuss came about.

people need to stop getting so upset over this, all including artists and labels and listeners.
If I call Ocelot's 9 lives dark, oh no, it's the end of the world yeah?
Dakr is not negative.
Darkness leads to light and enlightenment.
Often most of our biggest leaps in life experience comes from escaping our darkest hours.
So stop worriyng about all of this, lock the topic, and let's ride the trip of our favourite music, whether it is dark, light, striaght, gay, minimal, broken, full on, hartcore or classical!

i think this topic is the most subtle one regarding the concepts of the trance culture nowadays.
i remember the days back 4-5 years ago, i had such dramas with friend artists that were calling it dark. i was quarreling with them all the time, how can they be so blasphemic with this extraordinary mind expanding culture. it ended in a big drama, i was so angry with them about it. now i am the one to convince everyone how deep it is to call it dark. it is a strange thing.
but nowadays i dont even slightly see anything bad in the word. the only bad thing that bothers me are the kids or everyone who sees it as a fashion and doesnt see it as a deep philosophy of darkness leading to light. sometimes the kids piss me off about it. but anyway it is a strange convertion from psychedelic into dark psychedelic religion. may be i ve been spoiled by the devil really

Correction: not being proud of self destruction. But being proud to see the reality as it is. Being proud to say no lies about the world and about ourselves. Being proud to be realistic.
Others are just proud to call themselves light and peace and shanti but they are ridiculous cause they are simply not the light. You cannot be filled with anger and hate and preach about the light. It is just ridiculous. It is a lie.
And besides there is really no light. The light was the invention of the spoiled hippie kids that had no worries in life cause they could trip for years in Goa with the money of the rich family or the money of the rich states. It was so much light yes. But there are some more milliard of ppl out there that see anything but light in their lives. It is so nice to travel from country to country from festival to festival and to preach about the light. But the reality is sth else. The reality is the violence, the energy vampirism , the destructio of the nature, the wars. It is as simple as that. I dont see the dark psy culture as an attempt to be cool. It is just an attempt to describe the dark age we live in. And yes, if i see a festival in a sober state, with the tones of garbage left, with the ppl on drugs not knowing even their names cause they are too far away in the reality of light, i can only say enough with the preach about light. Face yourselves. Take a mirror and just face yourselves.

and yeah, i know what you will say. you will say, what is the meaning to see this all, trance parties have always been about escaping from reality at least in a temporary state. yeah, that is right. but the meaning is just to be aware of that darkness and to go through it in a trance state, to transfer it in light. to have a healing trance experience - for you and for the rest of the humans. just face the darkness. this is all. and it is a very trancy thing, it is not just a political attempt or whatever or just anarchy and destruction. it is much much more. to start by the devil and go beyond it.
