yeah but it is like heavy metal like it is not heavy at all for me but people are just afraid of the name because it is up in there head like a friggin popup add or something that says "That is too much!That is satan!That is unmoral!Kill em!" or for the more smart ones "Shit!Fucking nonesense!" and they can actually find out that there is nothing scary(maybe horrobale for some people) or unmoral in the high clean voice inside and the very complex harmony and high standart musical live performance.Heavy is just a about standing against standarts and bollocks!Breaking grounds and taking forward!Acting crazy and have fun!!!Some people can't understand each other so disrepect and fight?Is there a point?Flow with the masses or create your own crowd?Or realise that all crowds is the same stoned fucked up working people with similar ideas and lives that just want to have the time of their lives outgoing?Nevermind.Dark is already a selling tag! So at least you can do is to kill superstitions.Like this music can fry your brain or that its about taking tons of drugs and dance all day and night?Or it is simply a musical theme for a dance?Or more?Or is it about money makin?or is it about saving the planet?or is it about just loving music, gathering people, having fun and drinkin beer?Name creates the style and not the oposite that is why there is now satan in trance because people were so extreme and dark to push that far.And people who are so DARK that even support, dont know and dont care, back to my bubble now.Like it is a contest bout who is more DARK,fast and evil?or is there something more interesting? |

2-techno,Hardcore,electro,grind-core.
3-Trance,psychedelic,morning,Progressive,psy,
Dark....DARK ?? Why ?
Trance is a music style derivate from electronic music ! Soo.. base lines/ Music/Electronic sounds/melody,hard or soft.
At this point, if you ask me what music I like ,I can say: Music ! What style of music ? Trance ! what kind of Trance ? Psychedelic !what kind of Psychedelic Trance ?
If Trance is a Psychedelic music with good vibrations flow background sounds and inspiration, what can we call the PSYCHEDELIC ELECTRONIC MUSIC with have exactly the same psychedelic sounds and Moods of the Trance style but work with destruction noises and background sounds of horror films or other turbulent sounds.
Can I call this... Trance Hard-core ?
Heavy Trance ? Full on Psychedelic Trance ?
Brutal Trance ? Dark Trance ?
NO DONT CALL DARK TO PSYCHEDELIC MUSIC.
(Say one of the creators)
at the end, its all about distinguish the music in styles and put in music shops catalog.
They really need to have a different shelf for a different music style.
Trance is electronic music !
Stop to call ugly names for electronic music !
Call em intervention Trance, Underground Trance, Popular Trance, Trance House
But don't call Dark Trance to psychedelic electronic music !
This can be a never ending story !

so what is dark exactly ? apart from old xeno albums like cassandras nightmares ..and the odd celsung track .. i never heard anything that sounded `dark` ..

Its just a name that its called, no big deal - Just to fast explain what kind of music getting played. Will be played. If you really wanna know it you have to know artist name anyway (or bpm)
Call it hard psy ? I like more the word darkpsy. But dark doesnt have to be negative, its just part of the cycle.. Light/Dark. I dont think its possible to change it now anyway

And btw. when i first heard the term Dark psy - I didnt like it either, I called it Full Power .. But I cant decide what people should call it. Now I dont care and just call it dark

guys- there are about 20 kinds of trance that are not full on or progressive.
in case you were asleep-
there is funky stuff like Hokus Pokus
there is dark stuff like Horror Place
there is glitchy "killer" like Cosmo
there is flying music like Penta
there is twisted stuff like Ocelot
i dont even know where to stop...
but for sure the word "dark" only covers some of it.
the split has split even further. |

okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk... well within the dark genre there is even some differences...
industrial => ever hear of Mubali's tracks on Mechanophobia and Phoenix Rising? And his other tracks? To me these have a definite industrial style... more along the lines o F.L.A and even some Warp records influences...
Horror => Xenomoprh, Xyla and Ghreg on Earth for example... they use a lot of horror samples and they have a story behind it... this style seems to have a bit more melody as well
Psychedelic => Remeber the Gree Nuns? Remember Sandman? Their stuff was just acid laced madness... it wasn't about a big melody to make you get off on joy...it was often fast paced madness... along the lines of Fractal Cowboys etc...
Dark => yes there is dark and I think Deep Mental Trauma 1 was athe best example... Celsung and Catatonic Despair... really just damn evil...
Melodic => A lot of the South African stuff has a harder edge to it and high B.P.M's... like Shift - "Megatron" or Damge vs NRS - "Fuck 'Em All" ... there ar em ay more from the S.A side of things, label and country wise... and they have a loteof interesting melodies...
and of course you have the heavy metal influences... stuff like Dark Nebula and Baphomet Engine... but yeah there is much in this so called dark style and I don;t get why people hate it... it is really good music at the right time
