we communicate with one another in words. Those words are intended to describe what we are trying to communicate.
When talking about music, there are certain ways that we describe the different styles. Categorizing it into various categories : jazz, rock, country, R&B, hip hop, electro and etc. Within each genre of music there are many other sub genre's. For electro you can find house, tecno , trance and so forth.
Within each subgenre there are more subgenre's.
Since there are no "official" definitions of the subgenre's of psy, there are many misinterpretations of the style of music.....So many times yes, many people refer to certain tracks as 'Dark' due to marketing and lack of knowledge. However, I don't see the "big" issue with describing tracks as "dark" at all. For me when i hear some tracks, i become more in tune with my "dark" side.
misclassifying of music is something that will continue to happen since there is no 'real' definitions of the categorizing of psy.
maybe forums like these can help.....
or maybe make it worse

it is the psychedelic revival of the new generations, washed with MTV fast-focus - You know, many quick shots to hide the emptyness of such mainstream audio/video production.
I don't blame all dark fans, they deal psy-trance this way. I find fluffy compared with Astral or Hallucinogen

At first I read only 1st and last pages so left very short reply,but then it became more exiting and I strated to surf the tread,so for now being on the 2nd page I found very fatalic sub-opimion of the guy name Trick ( GOA IS DEAD ..)
What I want to say to this guy-
Between all your bla bla,cheezy,commercial,shit,bla bla,no one good party,bla bla I m still waiting, I found really bright and clever decision of you-fully agree -

i will throw the most banger of a party in GOA
for the real acid headz freaks, like u right???
hopefully ther wil be some left by then
give away free liquid and entrance to every1
have it on top of a cliff overlookin the ocean
and have some real pyschedelic arists
like kdd/psycovsky/jellyheadz/derango/ka-sol
but until then, sorry im in university right now, i guess we can continue to go to ur parties and listen to space cat vs gms, which im sure all the etards and "ugly looking people" thinks is really great musik as well hehe
in the meantime, its almost mahashivaratri, and 6362 Metaforce is throwing a real GOA party in karnatika, maybe u should check it out and get some pointers, hey look even a real psy dj from goa is playing TEO
maybe u can borrow some of his musik, i heard he has this record label in GOA called Discovalley records, wierd his musik and taste sound a little different than urs

If the music creates "dark" visuals why not calling it dark?
U see, colors are often used to describe art that creates special feelings and emotions, so if music is dark i think it can be called 'dark'.
Surely it is senseless to call every-non-full-on track dark.
And of course 'dark' does not stand for a special kind of tracks, beside the darkness-factor: There is dark fullon, dark progressive, dark psy, dark ambient.
Hope u understand what i want to say

there's dark morning trance, dark uplifting, etc. Dark Happy. Maybe not... But why not?
As Psytones says, is it wrong to listen to it during the day? I always think, is there morning metal? NO! They listen to the same metal all day and night. So why not? I dont mean at a party, I dont think that would be so good. I like parties with a lot of different stuff! It gets boring if its just progressive, or just fullon, etc... But truthfully the best party Ive ever been to was 80% 'dark'. But funny enough, the best and most psychedelic 'dark' acts there, Derango and Fractal Cowboys, played in the morning!

i know morning and full on are meant to be played in daytime but don't u play that in nite ??
so y can't be dark played in morning

Well I suppose if you are feeling like it, it's not against the law to play whatever you want whenever you want, but for the sake of ritual I think it's best to start a party at 12 am with some easier night music, then go harder, then deeper, then brighter as the sun comes up and then mellow it out as it gets warmer. If you still have dancers you should keep on playing. |

I totally agree with Ocelot and some others here. Also agree with a lot of difering arguments as well.
FOr me it is like this:
As long as the vibe of the music is psychedelic, mystical, weird, twisted, holographic, fractal, trippy, orchestral, melancholic, oriental or cosmic I´m happy.
I wish that as many people as possible get connected to the psychedelic culture and not vice versa.
The best musical lineup for me is to start the mystical journey with ambient and chill à la TIP Mystical experiences/ Ott/ Slackbaba and spiritual music which gets you into a deep comfort state of mind.
Then later on slowly get more and more psychedelic the acid way creating a hyperreality of extreme weird energy, color and love.
Psychedelic is also my religion
