Whats up in the trance scene? Why are some living in the past?
I was thinking about the equipment on some festivals, its okay for organizers to bring nordleads that wont even be connected, but to get some pro up to date dj equipment on stage seems to be very hard.. We still see the old cdj100 on some of the biggest festivals. cdj100 is vintage!

okay, no need to get state of art stuff, but atleast they should follow the standard of today and not 10 years ago

would rather spend my budget on quality dj's and sounds than on you so called "modern
gear.

CDJ100s hold their own so well, why change a good thing? don;t tell you really need that fake vinyl scratching and cheap ass FX they throw in, or is the extra blinking lights you want?

I know quite afew promoters who much prefer the cdj100s, and dj's as well.           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

I agree that CDJ100 is a terrible player by todays standard.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Come on - the difference in price between renting a CDJ100 vs. CDJ200/400/800/1000 setup is very minimal (around 100 Euros), and many companies don't even have CDJ100's anymore.

Compared to the newer players from Pioneer the CDJ100 has some disadvantages. It only has 0,1% pitch precision, and due to wear and tear I have often experienced that the jog-wheel can be quite unreliable, making sets with varying BPM's and long, smooth mixes harder than they really are. This can of course be dealt with by using the pitchslider to pitch bend, but why settle with this, when there are better players out there?

Of course taste differs though, and I base the fact that some DJ's prefer CDJ100 to the sake of old habit. The first player I used was a CDJ100, and I do know how to play on a CDJ100, but CDJ200/400/800/1000 is much preferred - even my old Numark Axis 2 player is actually better than a CDJ100 in my opinion           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Ok yeah true, although I disagree about the CDJ200. I paid the price and they only lasted a year before jog wheel issues and my cd's kept getting stuck in the cd slot, and my cdj100s I had had for 3 years prior no issues.

But If I could afford the CDJ400 then for sure would get them.

Maybe it is also that a lotoforganisers already have 100s at home that work fine so no need to rent the gear?

It may be the attitude of it's just dj gear so why pay more when I already have some?           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

yes you see those ol school 100s at so many parties still. those things are ancient,

IMO.
the Numark cdn 90s are amazing, Ive had the same pair for 6 or 7 years! theyve traveled on planes, trains, LONG LONG car rides and much more and still are solid.

the new standard seems to be the 1000s though.. but i still bring mine with me when I can since you never know what the set up might be.

Technics 1210 mk2 is old school, and vintage, and ancient and still, probably the best.

And, I like those 100's no matter what

So nice well done prOfane but i just can not agree with the statement written above; let me citate:

"Numark Axis 2 player is actually better than a CDJ100"

But ok, that was your opinion

100's are good for mixing, but for me is better to mix with CDJ-1000/800/400, cause cueing is faster in vinyl mode than CD mode.
Also the pitch tempo is better when is higher than 10%, like 16% and also WIDE (100%); It works for me cause I like to mix at high BPM lol

I'm agree that organizers doesn't want to rent a good equipment, and they get the CDJ-100s easily and for free xD           www.myspace.com/vensker

outside of the psytrance scene, anything other than 800s or 1000s is considered unacceptable.

The 1000s have the feature where you can save your cue points onto the SD card, but how useful is that if the events/clubs you are playing at don't have 1000s?

The track overview graph is very nice as well

And the 1000s master tempo is higher quality, with fewer artifacts than the other models.

Other perks: reverse switch, hot cue/hot loop (I haven't practiced enough to use this), adjustable start/stop speed and adjustable jog tension

the models other than than 100s, are way more friendly in touching sense.
unless you are playing in some very lost of civiliztion place on a real compact private party. than it feels good
