Stereotypical Psytrancer = poster boy/girl for a 'psy-trance' add?

Mad-Max look.

The stereo typical as I see it my self, is the ones some of you are refering as 'posers'. I don't realy like that you're calling them posers, maybe some of them are, some of them is a little and some isn't at all.. I honestly think that futuristic dirrty hippie with nice earthly clothes'n'chillumbongs, belts with useful pockets (now thats a fashion if I ever saw one), wooden piercings, majastetic tatoo's and bug infested dreads looks awsome!!! I sure as hell don't look like that my self. But people have to wear clothes, and whats wrong about that 'hippie' look? It's the inside that counts, and if someone would like to express their ,,belonging" to this culture with matching suits, then fine by me, as long as the heart is true the clothes have nothing to say. I realy love dreads, all my life I've thought that dreads looks nice'n'cool. I would like to get dreads in the back of my head soon, will that effect in people looking at me as a 'poser'? - Or am I safe as long as I don't go all out on the 'fashion'? I think people judge to much on the book cover. On my next festival I'll drop my santa uniform and wear a suit and tie. A yellow tie with a black suit. Colours, life, athmosphere, variaties, smiles, psy and peace.

On the inside thing? I think the typical psy'er is a bit shellshocked from drug use. Paranoia and laughter.

well you have a point..but you can look to a hippie and tell hi is a hippie or look to a ''neat pearson'' an know its a hippie inside..you can have dreads and be a hippie and have'em and not be one...but you can see at some people and tell they are possers...cause you have seen them in many other places with difrent identities.. and other way of acting..and you can see people in the same situation but something in the inside tell you that he is a real raver or a ''closet rave''.. not a posser raver.. maybe a am high or simply kuku ...but its al about the vibe

Ja mann! It's defo the vibe, but again people have this weird tendency to not give you the same credit if you don't look all shanti dirty hippie style. People will be fast to admire that person that ,,looks" hippie and ignore the one that looks ,,normal". Sad but true, or maybe it's just my experience and I'm coloured by subjectivity? lol But for sure it's the vibe you give. Thats why closing your eyes and feeling a persons light is much more important then to look at the clothes and judge. But hey, I'm not the one to talk. To be honest, and as you might get a sense of by my above post. I would like to become more ,,hippie" looking. Not only because I think it looks good/cool. But also because I feel that 'that' outer shallow(?) look would suit my persona. Everyone in the end wants to fit in one way or the other, to be accepted and be a part of a culture, especially psychaonauts.. to find like minded people, even how hard it can be sometimes, to find accepting people. vibes vibes and utter vibes. you said the key word my stoned friend ^^

In the end we're all individuals trying to express a sense of belonging or a sense of orginality of self.

Gotta separate stereotype from what I actually believe.

Stereotype:
Long-haired, India-chic wearing, tattooed stoner who goes to parties, takes acid and dances like a madman, gets by on temporary jobs and gets harrassed by the police...

My Opinion of a true psytrancer:
Anyone who's got a passion for actual psytrance.
If you go to sleep with Koxbox and wake up with Hallucinogen (just examples, could be any psychedelic ambient or psytrance), you're a psytrancer.
Can have short hair, wear a suit, never go to parties, not do any drugs and be a doctor.
It's in the music, man.

well psytrance is so rich..cause it's where rockers can be side to rapers..and rastamans side to skinheads.. in psytrance you can have a big ''milkshake'' of culturs and opinions..and feelings and all that silly stuff... so you can have a ton of other culturs stereotype ppl in the same dancefloor

well i just guess i hate newbies and posser..cause you never know why is their real purpose on a party... or music or drugs..but hey ¿wheren't we all newbies?

I'll give an original take on this and tell you a story about a party I visited last year. Around night time, you can always see a load of people that you can't really see clearly, and the bleak UV coloring gives a grim visage to most people. The combination of a load of total strangers, all wearing similar clothing, some with sunglasses, some without, gave me a really odd feeling. I used to feel a connection to the crowd, but all of a sudden - when talking to a friend I noticed: no one could ever know me, no one could ever see me. Seems like you're the only one who knows what it's like to be me. Someone to face the day with, make it through all the rest with, someone I'll always laugh with, even at my worst, I'm best with you. It's like you're always stuck in second gear, well, it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year. But, I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour. I'll be there for you, like I've been there before. I'll be there for you, cause you're there for me too.

Freaky Dragon, spain 2006:
Not having been to many psy festivals yet, this was one of my first experiences of real unity on the dancefloor....
All week, we were a few hundred (mainly organisers and stall holders), then saturday night came; the dancefloor was full of people(maybe just out for the night from Barcelona)....and I started feeling lonely - you know, you look round the floor, you see only people deep in their own trip, or just hanging around waiting for...(Godo?)...
It was like this til morning set in, then I suddenly realized that now, only the "real" trancers were still there; people danced in all directions, turning twirling smiling communicating....the chillum turned...and to cap it all Hilight Tribe played for sunset..
This was the most intense "tribal gathering" feeling, and you could see straight away what was a "real", or "stereotypical" trancer:
the guy/girl who isn't blocked on the DJ. Even more clear when you're in a non-trance party/concert ; you see someone dancing and you say AH! That's a psytrancer if ever there was one! And nine and a half times out of ten it's true.

So .. humm.. I guess a simple answer from me right now would be that the stereotypical 'fashion' would be the more down to earth (colours) mad-max Earth Tribe look and the spacey take me to your hallucinogenic dealer Space Tribe fashion look. ? ? ? ? I enjoy watching the Space Tribe people, because all variaties and colours are More then welcome..
