Hello guys I hope I get some good help. I am looking up to producing this year, with quite a few ideas and style designing, I am only at 10% of the project basically.
My already planned Hardware and Software is:
*MAC Laptop
*Logic PRO
-------------
I hope I am making a good choice.
My concearns are...
1) Any tips for Liveset? Should I stick to Logic Pro?
2) As for Midi Keyboard and or Syntheziser... What is recommendable?
3) Any creative Hardware outhere to have better communication with audiance?
THANKS!!!! |

Ableton Live would probably give you more flexibility, but you could definitely put together a good live set in Logic if you get creative and know your software well. I would rather have Logic to start out with, since it really has 98% of what you need. No one else puts as much work into their native plugins. You can always get Live later on when you're at the point where you'll be doing live sets.

There are plenty of threads about hard synths here. Check the equipment section and use the search if you have a specific one in mind. Access Virus' and the Nord Lead 2x are probably the most popular. For what it's worth, I don't suggest getting an Alesis Micron or a microKORG if you're just starting out. Focus on the basics first.

There are a lot of live tools available, but before considering those you REALLY need a good set of monitors and an interface.

  You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me? |

We use a MacPro (and Macbook Pro), Logic Pro 8 and nothing else.
We recently did a live set using Logic 8, since all our synths are the Logic native ones and there would be no way of using Ableton and wanting to play Logic synth patches.
Get some good monitors, get a good soundcard (no need to spend lots if you are not recording external sources or need a lot of I/O) and start thinking about acoustic treatment of whatever room you are producing in.
These are the basic, necessary things. Logic has great plug ins, so all you need to make good tunes is good speakers and a room to get mixes right.
Good luck with it all
