Sektor i was never the founder of Starsound Records,i was the A&R of the label for one year.Then i decided to do something on my own so i created my own label Exposure Productions which is also a booking agency just for your info.Starsound Records and Exposure Productions are not affiliated just for your info 
Clown by new and innovative ideas i mean to either release different music than the other labels or to release quality music from already established and new artists and not just 'kids that want to release something' like many labels do in our days.
And because you asked me about my label i want to inform you that my aim is to release high quality music from mostly well known and highly established artists of the scene in order to provide the people with good music that can work both on the dancefloor and on home listening.I dont want to release just dancefloor music but i also dont want to release just intelligent and home listening music.So my ultimate goal is to provide the people and the market with good music for every time of the day

well, my goal is similar to your then Mr. Detox.. I want to release quality music from well established artists, some not so well established, but that make quality music, and some new artists that make different sounds..

By the way one last thing.You said that you heard that it doesnt cost that much in order to set up a label.Well in order to create a company,release its first cd and create a nice website you need something like 10.000 euros for a head start.Its not that much indeed but its not easy to find 10.000 euros in our days also

Detox i think it doesnt have to cost 10000euros. I can see how it might for you with the big acts you release, but for clown who is gonna be releasing im sure smaller artists i think its closer to 5000euro (if that)...less big advances to pay and probably less cds to print too.

Tim even for me it didnt cost me 10.000 euros to start a label but i think that this is the ammount of money that one must have in his account in order to start operating a label,make releases,create a website,make promotion,even rent an office and generally make things start running.
What i am trying to say here is that one that has in mind creating a label should do it legally and profesionally in every aspect and creating a label this way costs some more money than just releasing a cd like most labels do in our days

better not open a label.. there are so many unneeded small labels around... this small scene doesn't need so much labels.

Actually the scene needs more better organised and bigger labels like Hommega and Solstice for example.

Totally agree.. well, i think.. hehehe.. im not sure how unproffesional labels are, because im not an artist that has had the chance to get "screwed" by them.. i've heard of a couple that promis money, and don't pay.. but how is that different from a booking at a party?? You just have to trust i guess...
I guess a solution would be to sign contracts between artists and labels, stating the amout of money due... that coule help maybe..
You have all been soo helpful with all this, and have guided me on the right track.. i will not forget you when the time is right..

What method of recourse do you have when the label doesnt pay an artist? or, when distribution doesn't pay the label? Ah, come to the High Court of Isratrance and post a thread

sometimes story is much different that we can see in first time ................ sometimes artist is stupid and sign on blank paper ............... and many more
so Clown use blank and get good lawyer ...... to design the contracts ................. |
