I like starting with a snippet from audio books to set the mood of the set... particularily things that I can easily convery in music like underwater, space, or comeplete tripped out psychedelia

After a banging party while we lay scattered on the beach, Scorb's "The Aquarium" followed by Ott's "Jack's Cheese and Bread Snack"            "Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience"

"Bill Cosby Talks to Kids about Drugs" is a good starter

Hard to believe this record was actually financed by
US government ....

Actually, Bill Cosby attacked the black community for their language and behaviour,
and later on decided to educate the American children.
Lovely, isn't it?

Oh, and I reckon that sometimes a calm, slow beginning is a good one, without vocals.
Natural sounds are a good beginning, imho. E.g.: rain, thunders, ocean, foot steps on the sands, birds.

Now you've got my attention...

What exactly does a footstep on sand sound like????

(besides an exclamation of "OUCH" if the sand has been under the hot sun all day)           -=Psionyx=-

I love to start with the dub mix of Hallucinogen's "Mi-Looni-um" as most of the trancers think it is the original, but when it slows down and the deep bass riff kicks in, on a huge system it just rocks, and the trippers look so twisted by the inability to comprehend the fact that it is downbeat hehe, if the party has been pretty hardcore all night I also like to start with some funky drum n bass like LTJ Bukem and the Good Lookin' Crew, or Infected's - Dancing With Kadafi!!
