I'd like to learn peoples opinion about the stage types that are made in our gatherings. Do you like it to be round stages, where people are 360 degrees around the DJ, or straight stages where people stand in front of the dj in a line??and why.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

as dj i prefer a staright stage where ppl stand infront dj becoze i dont want any stone person will be on my back, its better to secure stage as more as its possible, dancefloor there, stage here. there is stoled cases and agressive ppl that try to put on a deck what they want.
org should secure stage. period.           Believe your soul !

IMO i feel straight stages are better.....there should also be a clearing between the stage and the actual dancefloor....people should not be able to get access ti the decks or the stage........the stage should be at a height and the DJ should be visible to people from far........

I prefer straight stages too, it is more secure for the DJ's as already mentioned, and it is much more easy for the guests to see him/them.. But that is my opinion..

Take Care..

at full moon festival 2004, the stage was round. they made it like a temple, with lights from all around the dancefloor meeting at the sky.
I was having a discussion with a friend on this topic, and he said this way, it was like the energy released from the people around met at the sky, like the lights.
But as pointed out, the straight stages are I guess more advantageous for dj's, and also those crowd who wish to see the dj, while dancing. I dont know why, but it seems in the straight stage's dancefloor, people have the oppourtunity to see one another, and interact more easily.

straight stages............but
elevated
gives the dj a birds eye view of the entire floor

its also safer to be higher out of reach

Straight for me too... seeing the back of a dj isn't interesting... you also get a more concetrated area on the dancefloor where people will be freaking out a lot more compared to a round stage where people will be spread out. over a larger area..

Just curious - did more people gather to the area of the circle in front of the DJ, or were they spread evenly over the entire dancefloor?           -----------------

Krelm, it usually depended on who was on stage. If main acts were there, each part of the mainstage would be filled, evenly.
on the other acts, although there would be people all around the stage, there seemed to be a bit more gathering in front of the dj.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

When i compare the dancefloor activity at Voov (straight stages, round speaker setup in front of the main stage and a 4 point setup in front of the small area) to Full Moon i really prefer voov's choice...

also acoustics outside the speaker setup are terrible with round setups... and i mean terrible...           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. Get a free 250Mb Artist profile, Blog and events calender!

hmmm rik,

dunno man, at voov 2003 the main rig was awful at points (no offence if any were involved)
when approaching the main stage the bass pattern was all over the place!!
seriously- for those who werent there or havent heard the voovs power - its impressive but because of the way the speakers were positioned, it created a double layered bass effect - and it sounded awful, if you were outside the ring.
we had to cram inside the ring to get past that effect!!!
now - samothraki had the power man!!!

I think that the straight stage is defently better in all aspects .......
Musicly there is much better responce for the speakers .... sound cannot play in a circle and so many times we see this..
were just to move a few feet in a round setup the sound changes compleatly Its not for me ..... I stick with the Original
Dj and two huge stacks each side ... by the looks of things im not the only one......

Straight stage for me as well. We dont have round ones here at all, but I can't imagine that it works so well....maybe for very large crowds like at fullmoon.

The sound is better (fullon stereo), the interaction is better IMO and easier for security reasons for the DJ's.           :: Life can be as bitter as dragon tears
