Anyone here use Spotify, the free (and legal) music-streaming service?
If so, they've just added a heap of psytrance, psybient, and progressive: Twisted Records have signed up (Shpongle, Ott, Hallucinogen) as well as Tribal Vision (Vibrasphere), Iboga (Ace Ventura, Liquid Soul) and more.

Im there, i like it but im in Sweden so they´ve filtered out like 60% of the content due to flaws in the paperwork. And i cant change my postal code to go around it

Sure, sometimes tracks are released in one territory before they become available in another: the whole music publishing system is designed to sell rights in country after country, neglecting to consider online rights.
I'm based in the UK where fortunately all this new psy is now available. If you live somewhere else, all I can suggest is: try again soon! Spotify add several thousand new tracks every day...

Without being able to try it I have no idea what the hype is about. A limited selection of "ad-supported" streaming music in 160k quality? Not sure why I'd bother.
Incidentally, I can reveal to you exactly how much money Ektoplazm has made from streaming music on last.fm over the course of a year: €1.97. I wonder if Spotify will be any better? I suppose I will find out whenever they get back to me (I've been waiting for months already).
For reference: Spotify is currently available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK, France and Spain. |

I subscribe (for around $15/month) so there are no ads and the bitrate is 320kbps. The four million tracks they currently have are available to both subscribers and free users (who get a 1-minute ad every 20 minutes). |

I can only agree... and I'm in Sweden. I'm sure they will be successful overall, but for me it just doesn't cut it. |

But what about the money generated ? I really would like to see how much (little) its possible to make from this..
From small labels here (not psy) its extremely little money... But numbers numbers !! If there is no money to the labels, why pay money to Spotify ?? Then IMHO better to download or just copy the oldschool way, use the $15 to buy a cd a month maybe.

BTW I've downloaded flac's from you recently that had errors in them, you might want to start error checking the files and putting the log in the .rar's.
