this is an experiment in reverse reverse psychology
i wish to discuss the spontaneous creativity that doesnt fit the bounds of what we previously knew in terms of music, parties, and other phenomenon we could not have possibly imagined in 1999
i wish to discuss how a scene could be unified in terms of people respecting each other while still having diversity enough within the musical party experience to be truly thrilling
i wish to discuss the opening of the trance mind into ways of changing ourselves and our social network thingie and our planet and our universe in positive ways...
this is about what you find exciting and really really cool |

utopianism is back. its retro cycle has kicked in again. get on the scene. it lasted about 10 years last time so imagine it will go about 5 this time as the intervening period of shit has lasted about 7.5 or so... |

We mast define what is good and worhty in our scene.
1.Unity
2.Respect
3.Open mind
4.A higher meaning
5.Ecology
6.Humanity
7.A vision of a better world
Does these terms exists in our scene?
Sometimes yes and sometimes no.
Psychedelic has to do with the soul.
If our soul is empty the music will be too.
The music is the soundtrack of our lives.
If our lives have no meaning then the soundtrack will be meaningless too.
The evolution is not always a progress...
If the evolution takes us to a better and a higher level than we are then and only then it is a progress.
Same goes with the music...

I think we need less people trying to be super cool dj's and producers, i mean their is loads of other things to do than come to a party and ruin everything with your sound! and more people who make music because they are made to make it, more people who put their shit together and just try and make music from deep within their soul.
We need to concentrate more on the music because then everything will be in it's place! We need more intelligent psychedelic serious sounds coming from highly intelligent alien equipment. From my experience it's the music that changes people not the bullshit. Let is be dark at night and morning in the morning let us all join together again under one infinte name PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE!
We need also to concentrate more on festivals were some people can dedicate their lives to creating a more tripy psychedelic atmosphere, more visuals maybe with 3D animation mandalas runnning on four or more big screens in a party completely linked to the the music...
Just some ideas of how we could concentrate more on making things really professional, i think once we start to make a change to the better way, to the way that Trance really was and is, we will find that this feeeling, this reality is what everybody was looking for!

good words, ideas and vibes
one pratical idea to achieve it:
take the money out of it. take the trend out of it.
make it with good heart and intentions without expecting anything back but love and respect.
the trendy strong-egoed people and djs will be away if your party isn't fashionable. the money seeker artists won't be there if there is no money. The two (trend and money) are interconnected.
make the music you want.
listen to the music you feel it's good, no matter what style.
make the parties you believe in. do it differently (sound, space, lights, visuals, everything)
expect no payback but good vibes.
give people a chance to contribute (help, donation money)
put a hat in from of the dj/artist, let people give him what they think he deserves (flowers, money, words)
happiness and honesty would be nearer this way

put a giant cargo net suspended in the air for the dancefloor- for people to just bounce around in... lots of peoples belongings would litter the ground below naturally but it still sounds like fun for sure...

i cant eat words. i can eat some flowers. i need money to buy another hard drive for example...
thats assuming i play. someone else might play instead. but lately ive been playing so i dont work a job or live anywhere too much just play a lot and make music whnever and wherever i can...
i dont think you can remove the money aspect from trance anymore than from any other aspect of society
even a free party in the forest requires some transports for people that cost money, to eat at the party- someone used money or else picked a LOT of little berries and nuts...
money is everywhere like it or not.
i dont think parties are ABOUT money
or rather i dont think they should be - otherwise its not very partylike but rather event like...
but parties INVOLVE money for sure...
even when i wish for totally idealistic parties and culture i realize greater society determines the context and money is the medium of exchange of energy for society.
i dont think it in an of itself is bad. its the ways it can be manipulated that create gross distortions in the distribution of it... anyway i digress...

I think we just need the music to start with let's not make it too complicated, let us all take it step by step into wonderland! You work with hearth and when your dream come true others will have their's come true too and maybe then things start moving cause if we all just dream it will never happen we need to work for it more i think! Together is the answer we love music so much? yes we do so let's just start to change the little things that are around us and then it will grow...

One big problem in the trance escene is that a lot of people are newcomers, and they take for a fact that mos popular music at parties is the best.
And they also ignore a lot of the history of the movement and all its background.
I think it will very nice to do a documentary about the history of the scene you know something like those on History channel with interviews with artist a people related.
Some people could do some interviews in goa, others in germany, UK and Isarel and document some stories. Then some could design a script or storyline... etc.
It would be very nice to have something like to show it to new comers and also to concentrate a lot of opinions and information in one place.

I totally agree with Aaron on the money issue. The problem is not money itself but the flaws in the rules that control its flow. As long as these cant be changed, fighting money just blocks you from realizing your true potential.
As for the actual topic of this thread IMHO the most important change that has happened in this scene is that it has managed to appeal to a lot of different subcultures that didn't find the "old" psytrance music appealling enough to get more involved.
For example, ever since I started going to raves I prefered the raw power of drum'n'bass over the playfulness of psytrance. Only when it got more "bassy" (for me since 2004) I became interested enough to learn more about the scene and now I can't imagine my dedication ending anytime soon.
So I think it is important to focus on the diversity that is becoming possible with people from a lot of different backgrounds meeting on the dancefloor. I think this benefits the scene on many levels.
This period (in which we find each other right now) can be very chaotic at some times because of the differences in value ratings and various other reasons for misunderstandings etc. but IMO it will be highly benefitial for the scene in the long run because it allows us to build a more solid fundament and to widen and broaden the network.
And regarding the opposite thread - I find it more benefitial in many ways to focus on improving my product then judging the concurrence but can understand the disappointment with the state of things today. |
