As I was browsing through the review section I was astonished not to find a review of this album, so I'll take it upon me to enlighten all of you who haven't had the chance to listen to this album yet.

Both Space tribe and Electric Universe are acts that have been around the scene for many years now, and still going strong. With Electric Universe just having released their 6th album (Silence in action) and a busy touring schedule this summer (was lucky enough to catch them at both Fullmoon Festival and Antaris) they are at the top of their game, and honestly have been for a long while.

So what we have here is a colaboration of two legends of the scene. Lets see if they managed to produce a legendary album. Here's a rundown of the tracks:

1. Rabbit Hole

"the question is, how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?'. We start off with a piece of dance floor fodder, setting the pace for the tracks to come. It's tight, it's ridden with acidlines as you would expect from the likes of Space Tribe and Electric Universe, and it will take you places. No rest for the wicked with this track, the madness ensues from the get-go. Kaleidoscopic synths do some serious damage, swirling around the ether with a intensity that feels like you're about to burst. Psychedelic at its best. Sample use in this track is not over the top, and placed exactly right. All in all it is a truly trippy piece of music, Excellent opener!

2. Insane Monkey

This track takes a bit of a different approach. There's a bit more attention to build-up, but when it takes off, it does so in a stormy fashion. The acid lines are back, some really tight percussion, the usual tricks, and twisted samples. This track has a darker feel to it, that really works well. There's only one problem with this track: though the build up is definately more refined than the previous track, it doesn't end in going all out. Seems somehow like it's holding back a bit. A shame really, cause though it's a good track, it doesn't inflict the same mad euphoria the opening track just did.

3. Total Disintegration

This track is simply insane. I can't count the number of times I've spun this since the album arrived. This is about the tightest and most psychedelic piece of music to have graced my eardrums in a long time. This track truly has re-established my faith in the ability of the psy scene to actually bring forth totally psychedelic music. You have to hear this to believe the sheer intensity. The production on this track is crystal clear, it has a groove going on that makes you bounce all over the place, and the acid is dripping off the walls. The break at 4:33 is simply jaw droppingly raw. Easily the best track on the album. Thank you Electric Universe for totally rocking my world with this on Antaris!!!

4. Midsummer Night's Dream

Another stormer. This track has sort of a compressed feel to it, like it's holding on to itself, preparing to unleash its energy later on. And it does. The 303's are swirling around like there's no tomorrow, inducing total havoc. The only thing this track could've done without is the weird sample used in the beginning with some guy moaning, but that's only a minor annoyance, and the rest of the track easily makes up for it.

5. Harmony From Chaos

This is a slowly progressing and building energetic piece of dancefloor mayhem that will make your feet burn. A computerised voice serves as a guide during the trip, and though I normally am not too keen on these kind of vocal uses, it works wonders in this track. I'm slowly running out of synonyms to describe the pure energy that starts flowing as the track progresses, but just leave it at there's enough acid to give Mr. Hoffman a wet dream. Ranks up there with Total Disintegration!

6. Deep Purple Haze

Well, to be honest, this track really didn't catch my fancy. I am totally annoyed by the electric guitars, and the vocals in the track don't do much to pick this up. Besides that the track for me is paced way too slow after the madness of the previous tracks. It somehow feels totally uninspired. Skip this, you won't miss much.

7. The Acid Test 2006

Ahhhh, the original of this track brings back some good memories, and sees some occasional play still. This isn't really a re-inventing of the track, but more of an update to it. The pace is back after the letdown of Deep Purple Haze (though it still feels a bit slower than the first tracks on the album) and the psychedelia are flowing freely again. Pristine production, sick energy, and some serious old-school goa vibes make this a stormer. This had me frothing on the dancefloor, and will leave you breathless once that final beat falls. Ace!

8. Inner Revolution

'Each one of this may be capable of manufacturing a chemical, minute doses of which are known to cause profound changes in consciousness'. And we're off again. I'm really enjoying the way this track builds into a more goa-esque monster of a tune. It's pretty much something you probably heard before, but it's done in such an excellent way it will bring a smile to your face. The final rundown of this track is truly a marvelous example of what psychedelic music stands for. Highly recommended!

9. Computer Crash

A bit of weirness to close off this album. only lasting 3:03 minutes (and yes, I think pun is intended listening to how they put those 303's to work) it feels like a final taste of goodness, like a kiss goodbye. Nice and original way to close off the album, without lapsing into what seems to be an obligatory slice of ambient thrown in on way too many albums by artists who would do better to stick at what they do best: produce psychedelic trance.

So, the final verdict? this is an essential piece of psy in any collection! The whole album only had one track that for me didn't deliver, and it has been some time since a psy album has made such an impression. It seems like the collaboration of Space Tribe and Electric Universe was a match made in heaven, and I'm dying to hear more out of the minds of these legends. Till then, I'm hooked on this album

Fine stuff indeed. What I don't understand however is that you can give an album 10/10 while you don't like all the tracks? That's weird man.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Well, it's not often I enjoy 8 out of 9 tracks on an album, so this album is more close to perfection as any other I have in my collection. I would have to give it a 9.8/10, but I decided to round it up

It just didn't work for me...

lots of misplaced sounds, without a clear compatible harmonical evolution....

Perfect review for a perfect album of 2 of my alltime favorite producers! I sign below everything u said Timetwister ^^

and indeed Deep Purple Haze is a letdown but as that old saying "the exception confirms the rule" and the rule here is that all other tracks are MASTERPIECES! I don't remember loving so much 8 out of 9 tracks in one album!!! Best album of the last years (lots) in the psygoa genre no doubt though another FRESH masterpiece has recently been in my hands ...Radical Distortion's Regenesis!!! PLZ GO CHECK THAT IF U LIKED THIS ALBUM (especially track8..my current fav track )!!!! I ORDER YOU

and yea this to me is pure psy goa. The basslines are a bit fullonish (and good ones) but the melodies and track constructions are pure psychedelic goa trance! Wat u talkin about iceman?!?

Well a very very groovy album, lots of old sounds and crazy acid lines and melodies...
A great pounding goa dancfloor vibe runs through all the tracks here. Indeed track 6 is kind of annoying, dont like the butt rock goa guitars, and the singing vocal must belong to a very drunk australian. Not cool... Other than that fantastic stuff, makes me smile
Oh yeah and Computer Crash makez me laugh each time          Dressed to kill you look so right... I am drunk with lust tonite.

Great music for an acid morning. I hear a largely electric universe influence in it tho. Inner Revolution takes the cake on this cd for me. Great stuff

now i'm not a fan of EU and i know ST makes some of the best albums around even if the live acts i saw were quite calm. knew it from the moment i heard about the cd comming out that nevertheless it was going to be one of those few big ones of the year. the reason: they've preety much the same style that acid-oldpsy. and the whole album is a blast from head to toe, its just pure energy filled with ellectricity, and this creatures of the past really didn't changed! amen for that! keep the spirit!!
