not to rain on anyones parade, and i know how much time it can take to set a date, book flights lineup a venue.
but Vibrasphere was announced with early prelim info as much as 2 months ago. I live in the friggin midwest and knew about it, come on.........

This is going right back to the age old Nor Cal problem, that either no one give a rats ass what someone else is doing, or people have their heads so deep into their own worlds, that they are just clueless.
This happens several times a year, and its always avoidable, and someone usually always suffers and takes a big financial hit because of it.
All that happens is you have now both screwed each other.
There are online tools that the SF scene developed, including a tribe thread where dates can be claimed months in advance to keep this from happening, and again everyone is too caught up in there own world to give a crap about the other guy or the bigger picture, or even use the tools that theyve been given.
Mindyou im not picking on Mindfull here, your only 1 in a number of crews that have done this, ranging from Shaman Films to Goa Play to Phoenix Family., and i wish you all the best on the show,
but come on folks really... put down the Vapo-pipe for a second and wake up.

This happens in NYC often as well...back in april Electrypnose, Ananda Shake, and Psyboriginal played at one party and Mr. Peculiar and Skazi at another- both on the same night, it wasn't really a problem at all and I doubt it will be here either as Vibrasphere and Derango have different styles and will probably not attract the same crowd.

Looking forward to visiting the west coast once again!           ~gOa ist nicht nur musik sondern auch eine lebenseinstellung~

Paradigm, I don't think that anyone is going to be screwed in this situation. I know that the organizers have been working hard to get a date fixed with Derango for at least 9 months. People have very focused visions and make sacrifices to make these parties happen -- their focus does not make them clueless towards others.
Besides as Lauryn put it, these are two very different styles of music and experiences. The Derango party is a two day FOREST campout and will probably attract people who want something very different out of their party. What's wrong with that? Why should every event be an attempt to pacify everyone? I though that diversity and having choice is a good thing.

Have a puff, chill out and enjoy the difference in the world—it’s quite lovely like that, really.

and several times a year, organizers take big financial hits without scheduling conflicts. it's the nature of the beast. surely, nobody intends to screw one an other or themselves - at least not with money peaceful warriors, embrace your choice.

same rhetoric, different events..... Ive been hearing the same for years, and its not going to ever change.
Because no one,(im not singleing out Mindfull here) wants to get off their ass and do a little leg work or research outside their own event. Remember its supposed to be a community.
and yeah having a choice is great, when you have a scene that numbers more than 350 people. When you have enough people (i.e. NYC) to support multiple events. Everytime 2 shows go on in SF, one always gets the shortend of the stick...... ALWAYS

@ Kailima, i beleive both shows will suffer. Vibrasphere probably more so , as LA people will travel for a campout (its worth the trip for them) {but with Symbiosis the next weekend will they really?}
thus boosting that shows overall numbers.
Vibrasphere, is basically left with the remnants of those who either want to stay close to home, dont have a ride, or the smaller percentage of trancers in the Bay Area that prefer prog.

and its no one being malicious or intending on screwing anyone. Im not saying that, not at all.Its just lazyness.
In the 6 years i was doing shows, Not once did i ever conflict with another event of the same crowd. Its not hard to do your homework, esp. in Cali where everyone that does events preety much knows everyone else in one form or another. I have every promoters contact in my email. How hard is it to send a mass email saying ive got my eyes on this date?

paradigm,
it really doesn't matter. parties happen all summer long on the same date. the reason is because there are so many enthusiastic trancers who want to throw a party. And another thing. I've never heard of Vibrasphere. i just went on psyshop and listened to some samples and nevermind that i think it's total crap music, it also has very little, imo, to do with the music at Source Sync. i see almost no relation. one is psychedelic, one isn't. i think the people who want a real psychedelic experience have a pretty easy choice to make. and most of the people i've met who are into progressive would not travel way up the ass crack of CA for some crazy dark stuff.

i don't think i've talked to one person trying to "decide" between source sync and vibrasphere. and you mention that Symbiosis is the next week, as if that's also some irresponsible decision of Mindfull's, but again, who gives a flying fecal matter? it's totally different music! Source Sync is also on the same day as Earthdance, which i've heard people complain about. Come on-- who on this forum of so-called psychedelic trancers would rather go to earthdance than see goddamn DERANGO?! THIS is Earthdance.

also you call this an "SF" event but i really look at it as more of a Cali mini-festival. there are going to be a lot of people from LA, SF, and OR there, plus i'm sure visitors from all over. the organizer is from LA. the lineup is nearly as diverse as Gemini or AUM.

Any ways, your silly trolling has caused me to write this pointless rant. but i have seen your trolls one too many times so here it is.

Okay, I really do not want to start an argument on this thread—it has no place here. But I would like to speak for myself now since I’m so thankful that this event is taking place and have been waiting for it to be manifested for months on end. I happen to love the forest over any other location (the dessert almost being on par) and the artists happen to be some of my very favorite--If there was no diversity then I would have no choice but to go to an event that I don’t really appreciate or stay at home. Now explain to me why should I suffer a musical experience that I’m not really into? If the scene is small it will attract like minded people and grow. What’s the problem with that? I still vote for diversity.

Besides, real world logistics (artists and sound availability etc) also left Mindfull with no choice but to schedule this event at this time. Now can we just drop it and have a good time—this is really silly.
