The album is great, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. You could probably debate if it's really a continuation of Son Kite. It's more like a meeting point between old son kite and newer minilogue. There are certain tracks that are more reminiscent of the older sound (Eye See You), and the majority of the tracks have a bit more push than typical minilogue. Whatever you want to call it, it's great music.

I wrote this about it on another site, so I just post it here as well. Great album, but Im sure there will be lots of disappinted trancers out there...

"Well then, I have finally listened to "Prisma", it came out yesterday and since I pledged for the Vynil version I got a free download with it. My first impressions, whoever said its faster Minilogue isn`t completely off the mark

That being said, I really like Minilogue, so I really like this album! And if you follow Minilogue, it is very apparent that Prisma contains tracks from 2007 until now. Two of these tracks, "Transition" and "Chihiro" are driven by that typical Minilogue "Ploinky-Ploink" that was so typical for them around 2007 to 2009. And these two are my least favorite tracks, because everything else sounds more like "Blomma", which is good, because that was one of my favorite albums of the last years.

However, even though this is supposed to be the trance album, it is not necessarily more melodic than "Blomma". It is faster, more loopy and more hypnotic, in a way it sounds like some kind of "Proto-Trance" from the pre Eye-Q early nineties before trance became associated with outright in your face melodies. The tracks just meander around with no apparent goal or purpose, and if you expect a big breakdown or to throw-your-hands-in-the-air-like-you-just-don`t-care you have come to the wrong place. It`s all about the atmosphere and not about telling a story. The overall sound aesthetic of prisma is probably what I like the most about it. Very organic, vivid and colorful, or in other words very unique, I dont know anyone who sounds like Minilogue/Son Kite. My favorite tracks so far are the awesome acid trip "Travel Blind", the hypnotic deep trancer "Eye See You", the hazy and dubby "In Flux" and "Synesthesia", the only track that sounds even remotely close to what is considered trance today.

To sum it up: I see a lot of very sad raver faces, because Prisma sounds nothing like their last Son Kite album "Colours" and even less like the standard pprogressive psytrance Iboga and their consorts spit out these days. If modern trance is neon-bright comic pop-art that screams in your face, then Prisma is an impressionistic painting, only hazy shapes and colors that blend into one another. But I see one very happy face: Mine! While it is certainly not perfect, I really like it and I enjoy it more and more after every listen because it is one of those albums that grows on you over time. And while everyone complains that all modern trance sounds the same, Son Kite have taken the genre and given it their unique twist "           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

I agree that this album sounds like a faster Minilogue. But, overall, its still Minilogue imo.

OK, Colours is one of my favs. It has a fullonish feelling that I like in progressive tracks. Do u like it also? Forget Prisma.

Prisma has longer tracks, more evolving. Less trance/danceable for me. Not even "eye See you", that shows me that it´s not easy making a pumping offbeat track without a snare!

But at the end, Ticon/Son Kite/Vinrasphere are the kind of acts that changes their releases. And its cool!           LOADING...

Cheers for the responses everyone!

Must admit i'm in the underwhelmed category...too floaty...not driving enough for me...

Not sure why release this as Son Kite when Seb and Marcus have other more appropriate artist names to produce under,

So Colours will remain as my fav listening trance albumn......           Global Cooling is the new panic for the masses

RE: Son Kite, sounds good, also sounds a lot more like Minilogue than Son Kite...who cares though ultimately, it's still new music from two talented dudes who aren't writing together anymore as far as I understand. Minilogue and Son Kite are both cool so I'm happy. You bunch of fuckin' cunts.

Havent heard it extensively, but watched a video on the web and my thoughts were, this is Minilogue, dont really see a point in doing a Son Kite being a Minilogue, a bit more strengh and impact on the structure at some points would be cool           Tudo que é melhor e mais superior em mim saúda tudo que é melhor e mais alto em si

It's trance, it's good and will rock the dancefloor, it's music that isn't much about "listening" as it is about dancing.

And honestly I didn't want more of the same old good prog, that while I loved it so much it has come off age.

Also give the overall state of psy-prog Prisma is fresh.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Another great analog album from the duo, this time with the theme of Son Kite. Respect to them for sticking to the whole live hardware sound because they have produced so many good things in meticulous studio style but still choose to do it this way now and create new roads.

Not bad but IMO there is much better progressive out there than what's called prog in this scene. Give me their Minilogue project over Son Kite any day!!!!           Cuntus Maximus.
