hey,
can you advise why there is so much hype concerning new Son Kite album? is it going to be really something special among all this usual releases? or maybe something different? i hear everywhere that this will be the album of the year. too much or not?

mate....
You should know by now - not to pay attention to hype..... plz - just check out the previews of it in the shops, and decide if it's good or bad.
special releases are rare and individual to everyone.
 Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I think it's safe to say, that the album will be something outstanding... I for one, am looking very much forward to it... ;o)
Just listen to On Air, and I'm sure you'll understnad the hype!

If you like progressive house, it's probably good. But for most of the psytrance people on this forum, it will probably sound terrible... 
But I agree, it is a bit too much hype around Son Kite. Now they are even releasing a live DVD! I could understand it if Simon Posford or other ten times bigger names than Son Kite did it, but Son Kite....?
Well, somebody had to say it....
I have seen them live. Pretty good, but not THAT good....

PKS ... we make music ... in my opinion we're making trance with influences of other gengers. If you think that we're making house it's up to you but I can't really see the point why you have to be famous to make a live DVD ... we make the DVD since we think it's a really interesting thing to do and believe it or not ... we're doing what we love!!! Do you also think that you have to be famous to release an album?
About the hype .... PKS & Evanilson! maybe some other people think that we make some nice choons ... but I think that everyone should listen to trip, don't follow what other people think, follow your own opinion!
Long live house & trance & pop & techno & breakbeat & jazz & opera & other music that makes you feel something ...

The hype (so far) is justified.
I only heard the original version of On Air and it deserves atleast the attention of the ppl here. That is not your regular killa tune with murdering bassline and "fear and loathing" sample.

Seb: I really like a lot of your music, but I am just not sure if it will fit to the taste of the majority of people on this forum... What you do is creative, but the topic here is about hype, and I think Son Kite has been a bit hyped up on these psytrance forums, and the result can be that people easily get some sort of wrong picture. It is probably your fans and not you guys who has done the hype job
I know you love it. For sure, you don't need to be famous to make a DVD. At least you guys are VERY productive... Well, at the bottom line, I am probably wishing that the "famous" guys was a bit more productive too...
Of course I don't think you have to be famous to release a CD. Who had heard of OOZE before the album was released? And it is one of the best ambient dub albums ever made (in my opinion).
Exactly! You guys out there should follow your own opinion, and not the hype... By the way, I think you make some nice "choons" too. I didn't say house music is bad... One of the reasons why I think it's a bit hyped up is that a lot of artists has done the same music style for quite a while allready, and somebody is trying to convince people that the Son Kite material is so "new thinking" stuff... But it is not. OOZE was more fresh...
Well, you have tried out housey trance lately, techno inspired trance in Minilogue and some sort of jazzy vibes on the OOZE project. So opera inspired breakbeat trance should be next? That could be interesting. Please make more OOZE tracks. That really made me feel something....
By the way: I will probably by the DVD also, as I have done with most of the Son Kite material+the rest on your label...

i don't know, to me and my group of friends Son Kite is more 'famous' than Posford, i couldnt care less if he released a dvd, but maybe he should, lots of people would dig it.
i just think son kite is doing something daring and creative here with the whole colours concept, and people are taking notice. it just reaffirms my trust in music that people appreciate it when an artist does something new and puts his heart into something.
There were some Son Kite releases i didnt like so much, but i always felt they were 'keeping it real', to use and old rapper cliche, and this latest release is an absolute kileeeerrrr, to use the isratrance lingo. I love son kite. Have done so since the days of minilogue. If they're putting out a Live DVD days, I'll buy. I had the pleasure of seeing them play live once, and they rocked the house. I can't wait to get my hands on colours. I know it's gonna be special. I know I'm going to love it. I don't even need to hear samples. Some of it may miss at first, but I know I'll come around. That's the way Son Kite is.

theres hype around son kite because they have proved to me and many others on this forum that they are of the most original and exciting artists around. hence, a high concept album/dvd/single release is exciting. If you dont like it thats cool. ive heard on air and the remixes and it is the #1 track of the yr in my opinion with the NDSA remix a close second. hype backed up...

Funny... I'm beginning to feel old....
I have noticed that while talking to people at parties lately, some people are into Skazi etc, but hasn't heard of artists like Juno Reactor... Can you believe that? Then I'm really starting to feel "old"...

you´re not old, don't worry, i know who posford and juno reactor are (rotorblade, anyone). Posford was cool back in the day, but his time is passed, he hasnt even releaed as hallucinogen since 1997, and all those collaborations he does, younger brother or fly agaric, are pretty boring imho. Shpongle is kinda cool, but i'd prefer ooze or son kite any day.
i guess its just a matter of taste, like everything in life, and not a matter of young and old.
