Heard Skazi was killer.
I also heard it was too packed.
I am also sure vision and solstice had a successful party! Otsukaresama!
You should be able to see the pics soon on both organizations websites.

Despite my initial resistance, I broke down and led my tribe to the messy Messe. It was everything I expected and more - throbbing, dirty, sweaty, smoky, pulsating, dark, crowded, slutty, fucked-up - an excellent party.... Truthfully not my ideal party, as I live for the sunrise, but I certainly wasn't disappointed.
Makuhari Messe is a huge jet-hangar-sized convention center. The artists were way up in the rafters on this huge black monolithic stage that presented them as some kind of gods of the mainstream underworld. I didn't have my binoculars so I couldn't really see their faces (even from front center) - That didn't bother me too much as there were certainly plenty of interesting views amongst the crowd. And the music was loud and clear. As for it being to crowded - well if you wanted to be center-floor for GMS live it would've been a bit tight, but in general I found that there was plenty of room on the fringes.
As for the music - as expected. High quality throughout for the 11 hours I was on the dance floor. No big surprises for me. I now realize that I prefer a good DJ set to the live acts, though. GBU makes great tracks, but I don't need to hear them back to back. I prefer them in the mix. I do recall however they played a pleasing remix of Pura Vida with those Easy Rider samples: "I can't afford to get hooked...." Dino played a great set in the morning of varied types. Did it for me quite nicely. Dimitri wrapped it up and I gotta say I've heard better sets from the master. A bit boring for me. A little anti-climactic, I guess.
All-in-all a great time and a pleasantly kooky way to bring in the new year.

Nice pics - natsukashii!
The crowd shots were taken from the DJ booth, so you can see how high up the artists were. It suited the party well, I suppose, but I prefer a little more personal feeling. Their faces were little blurry points way up there somewhere. We sometimes got close-up shots from the video projection screens. The sound, though, was easily audible - nice and clear and loud enough - so I suppose that's the point, right? I really liked the main geometric mobile that was hanging at front centre. The artists are all pretty ugly anyway! (I suppose Dado would take offense to that!)

Kazu....
I agree. This party special for me cuz it was the first indoor party for me of this size. But, the artists were all the same as I'd seen before last year (some 2 or 3 times). I was really hoping to find something different, but nothing was around.

Some people from where there are fewer parties would say we are spoiled. Perhaps they're right.

I hope the big organizations will take some risks and bring a greater variety of artists and be a little more creative in the future.

Yes Kazu. There are so many great parties to select from. People with experience will be very selective of the parties they attend.
Have fun!
