I m the member of the forum for few years.
It never stop to amaze me with ammount of the people ,visiting this forum as a guests or members.
Its a kind of Soap opera ( in a good meaning)-few years,u know the people,the directions of them,the style of topics.
There are some really good ones,and some really stupid,but many of this treads,specially if it is a discussions about the styles or if it is any kind of really cryticism,deverts in a kind of battleship between those ( ususally same few people who dont like what is said) and the person who put this kind of reply or topic just to let the rest know what he thinks.
It is really crap,cause hiding behind some mistic nicknames,the people who just waiting to put the reply shit in the tread,complitely breaking the healthy arguement atmosphere,which suppose to dominate in the Forum,and just make a childish YOU YOU YOU games,insalting those,whom they even dont know.
Lets see how it is happenning usually:
THREAD:What the .... is a REAL PSYCHEDELIC MUSIC?
There is a big difference ( for the sound,impact on the concious,music base,etc.) between the Modern electronic music genres.
For example,BOOM festival presented us probably all dance music styles
I can devide them on :
Dark (Grapes of Wrath)
Experimental (Greg on Earth)
Dark Experimental ( Mistress of Evel)
Trash Experimental ( Highko)
Night Full On ( Fungus Funk,Absolum)
Morning Dark ( I dont know if exist-dj Natan @ 7.00 am)
Acid Techno trance ( Paul Taylor)
Morning Full on ( Goblin,Celli)
Groove ( Zen Mechnanics)
Progressive trance ( Ace Ventura)
Club Progressive (Sally )
Progressive House ,Electro,Deep Progressive House ( many ) ,
Cheesy Faggot Progressive ( ...was played)

Live instrumental rock music ( psy-rock)
Live instrumental music ( Highlight tribe)

Looks thats all what I can count though.
U can put the word PSYCHEDELIC before any of this genres.the question-there is only one or two right combinations.Which one ,what do you think.
Also lets leave our personal simpathies and try to be obvious.What is a REAL PSYCHEDELIC DANCE MUSIC,and why do u think THIS WAY?

we make deep experimental darkish morning cheesy electro progy trash night fullonish house rock orchestral trance beatz! (with vocal choirs)
all kinds of music is accepted if its good and has something to say! i just dont like the jibberish trance that has nothing to say in terms of creativity and quality! music is all about a sense of story from the artist to the listeners/dancers and dont forget that never cause unfortunately these days many tend to forget it!(maybe me 2)

Well man I cannot exactly describe how is the real psychedelic dance music...But the only sure is that it doesn't need to be similar with "psychedelic trance" of year 2006.An other side of thing is the LSD.Everything is psychedelic with it..So my clear answer to your question is:Everything in electronic music that could bring to your head an euforic LSD feeling is psychedelic...You cannot categorize the psychedelia as unique form of elecrtonic dance (psychedelic trance) Espesually in our age there are no many reasons to categorize electronic music in genres because that original genres don't not exist anymore.You can find psychedelic electronic dance in the music which many people calling it minimal techno or progressive house/trance or psy-trance or...whatever.Just be openmind!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so it is what fits the psychedelic experience.
Psychedelic, as an established musical standard, sounds like a tasteless idea to me.
As tasteless as plastic christmas trees, coca cola santa clause or commercials trying to sell us all these grand products.
REAL psychedelic music is not definable, since it will always take you to a place you havent been before - Therefore it cannot be defined in any static way, it has to be fluent and in a constant flux - exploring new territory.
REAL psychedelic music is almost never played in the "Psychedelic Scene" - Since that scene depends on big parties which need money, the focus is on names, lineups and genres - all clearly defined - but not the true psychedelic experience as such.
The truely psychedelic music at the core of the "psychedelic trance party" was left behind long ago, only thing that is left now is people, many with their own commercial interests, fighting over scrabs. Trying to patent their own brand of psychedelia as the one and only "Psychedelic Trance / Sound"...
Crap 
Im fine with the music we have though - Theres more to the psychedelic lifestyle than just music.

Reality is like a ball, and each one of us looks at this ball through a little straw, or tube, or tunnel... We filter some things, and see other things..
and then you come and tell us: " hey, my tube is the right one, I know what psychedelic music is" .. and then someone else will be looking at the opposite side of the ball, and will be saying " oh, I think what you are saying is psychedelic, is actually not psychedelic at all"..
and then someone else´s reality-tunnel will coincide partly with yours, and they will say "oh, yes I agree with you partly, but such and such I dont think is psychedelic"
but none of us is seeing the full ball.. Reality is also like a river, ever-changing... you may take a picture of it, and think you know about it, but its much more dynamic.. Reality is untangible.. Its faster and more subtle than any definition.
you divide music into genres.. you make a model for a certain aspect of reality... which is fine, as long as you realize its just that: a model..
the menu is not the meal, the map is not the territory..
none of us has monopoly over the expression ´psychedelic music´
You call some music as´faggot music´ (which already shows that you have some complexes there, because why would someone who seems to think he is so enlightened, would use a word of ´gay´ as a negative thing, in a ´scene´ that is supposed to be so open minded?).... and you know what? probably some music that I think is deeply psychedelic (for me), much more than the full on you seem to like, you will call faggot music.. Why do I like it? Because certain of those tracks tell me a story, bring a feeling, that remind me of my psychedelic trips.. Because of the details, the patterns that I hear, that all are very connected with the patterns I see when tripping... and I am not gay, but even if I was, what would be the problem? am I a lesser person because of it?
another thing that is important to understand, is that we are all like colours.. our bodies/souls (if you allow me to talk a bit metaphysicaly) have rythms, vibrations.. These vibrations are constantly interacting with other vibrations from outside, just like when we throw rocks in a pool, the waves interact with each other, forming interference patterns.. some colours (or sounds) can mix well, harmoniously (like yellow and blue can give a nice green), other colours dont mix well.. The same with people.. Arent there some people that havent done anything bad for you, but you simply dont like them? or inversely, you really like them straight away?
This also works with the interaction of music and people.. Some music simply dont work for some people, while certain music work very harmoniously for other people.. What one might call psychedelic, will only make sense because its his specific vibrations interacting with those musical vibrations
and last, but not least.. Its always important to remember that there is good and bad music in basically all genres, just like there are good and bad people in all groups
so just find what you like, listen to it, support it... and be open minded enough to let other people listen to what they think is good, without thinking they are bad people just because they dont share your reality-tunnel

I think that making music has made me more critical. I miss just being able to enjoy a party without always over analysing what i was listening to, but I am very sure that it is not only this, there is definately a marked increase in negative energy at partys. It is up to all of us to fight this in a positive way. Look at the world we live in, it's hectic, obviously these things are going to happen we can't expect to live in a bubble can we? All of these things are part of the growth of new things and a strengthening of the trance movement as a whole. If you see what is going on in the mainstream it's no surprise. What are you doing with your life reflects in your music, it shows your soul and theres no way that you can fake that.
Another thing I wanted to say is that there is a big difference between what I call negative energy and "dark" music I personally like the dark side of the trance just as much as the light but it seems to be more of a flat boring soulless mtv, fast food, G.W.Bush kind of energy that makes me walk off the floor. But wtf at least its better than nothing so I still keep coming back.

After all BOOM,I tell you honestly my opinion.
The TOP psychedelic performance and the best
psy experience me ( as well as other 500-700 ppl) I got in sacred Fire area on the Highlight Tribe live.
This was amazing,psychedelic,wild,jungly tribal experience,far away. |

I agree here, Higlight Tribe was amazing, but still... The best psychedelic music I heard at Boom was Trold by far, totally freaked out melodic shroomy music... Somehow old school but with all kind of fresh sounds and effects, and not too fast!
Psychedelic for me means that the music has all kinds of layers playing with eachother, with lots of effects and melodies... it gives the feeling of a rollercoaster! but of course Psychedelic means something different for everybody...

imo. Easy. Real psychedelic trance music is music specially made to interact with the effects of what ever psychedelic substance that you have ingested. How one artist knows and does this is hard to explain 8for me) in words. But it's the details of sound, volume and bending (ect).
