Rave has a pretty bad connotation as opposed to the whole "open-air event" type of terminology, at least in the US.
Psytrance usually doesn't belong in a "rave" anyway..too much crap involved in the rave area of things that I really don't want to rub off on the small psy scene here that does exist.

I know you speak about your local scene but in general the international so called psytrance scene could easily be called a (candy) Rave scene these days. There are so may corners in the world where it has been transformed from special outdoor and indoor events connected to the ideas it was build on (too long a story to tell here) to a scene with massive Rave like parties and Festivals. The scene has surely changed over the years from being underground to being highly fashionable mainstream MTV alike rave pop music (sometimes quite close to what Scooter is know for) and an Audience who know nothing about the scene's roots when it come to music and visions. To them it's just another rave (probably it's cool and IN rigth now to be a raver) where they can air their whistles, white gloves and worship their God's on stage. I do not say it's like this everywhere but let's face it. The majority of the so-called psytrance scene is exactly like this today. And it keep evolving in that direction.. Fast.

Nothing left for me to say but a big fat WORD!!!
Well maybe one thing: Some years ago, people we're dancing and looking at each others. Nowadays everybody is looking to the stage... Why??? why has there to be a stage in the first place?
