So I read through the thread. Like most people I originally had great expectations when I saw who it was. And just like everybody else, I was let down by the result.
But here's something interesting. A new Space Tribe collaboration close to what we wanted to see.

I dont care if it makes money or not. Its stupid Teletubby music and a cliche with all it's alien religious mumbo jumbo references. And vocoders got outdated with Sher! This should not get any attention in a psytrance forum whatsoever... Period www.beatagency.dk

"Although the vocoder effect was Mark's idea, the other obvious vocal effect in 'Believe' is the 'telephoney' quality of Cher's vocal throughout. This idea came from the lady herself -- she'd identified something similar on a Roachford record and asked Mark if he could reproduce it."
It's not the same as audiotune that correct any false singing. A vocoder makes the voice well. vocoded www.beatagency.dk

Hm... I read otherwise, that they used autotune and tried to hide it, since you can use autotune to add that "electric" vibe to vocals (like t-pain, for example),
since you can use it for that too, not just pitch-correcting.
"Auto-Tune was used to produce the prominent altered vocal effect on Cher's "Believe", recorded in 1998, the first major hit song to employ the software for this purpose. When first interviewed about this, the sound engineers claimed that they had used a vocoder (although they did not specify that it was Auto-Tune, a phase vocoder), in what Sound on Sound perceived as an attempt to preserve a trade secret. After the massive success of "Believe", many artists imitated the technique, which became known as the "Cher Effect"."
"Cher's voice is altered by a pitch correction speed that is "set too fast for the audio that it is processing." Producer Mark Taylor added the effect to Cher's vocal simply as a lark. In interviews at the time, he claimed to be testing out his recently purchased DigiTech Talker. It later emerged that the effect was not created by a vocoder, but by using extreme (and then-unheard-of) settings on Antares Auto-Tune software"
Here's some extra info about autotune from Weird Al for you:

Mate Autotune has nothing to do with Vocoders. Its two different things and both can easily be used at the same time.

BTW I know what Autotune is
Yes they tried to hide the use of Autotune whereas its impossible to hide the use of a Vocoder as its intended to sound like a Vocoder.www.beatagency.dk

I don't know mate, I think you're wrong.
I you read the yellow section of the sound on sound link you posted, you'll see that it was autotune they used instead of a vocoder.

Space Tribe used to be known for his tripped out music (Far from fluffy Full-on). It's news to me he is used to be known for fluffy Full-on? But after Alien Jesus I don't even bother to listen to the rest of his music. It can't be good.
