Greetz everyone,

About a month ago i've heard OTT`s Blumenkraft for the first time(needless to say it's amazing, as many have already noted in this forum).

What really intrigues me is that i suspect Smoked glass.. track is actualy remix of Karunesh`s Punjab track from Global Spirit album. (i'm 99% sure that's the correct track name, but can't say for 100% as i don't have that cd right now). I'd like you to tell me your opinion about that please. It's either same samples, either same vocalist or at least mutual background, as in lyrics =)

btw - here's something funny i came across the net in regard with smoked glass track.
this is from interview with ott (Ott discussing new album Blumenkraft - May 2003) :

"So who’s the chick’s vocals on Smoked Glass and Chrome you sample here then? I wont tell anyone...

"Chick"?? Did you just say "Chick"? You sound like "The Fonz" now, Damion.
I shall assume it was "neo-post-modernist irony" and continue. [psyreviews: yes it was. ott wont tell me the name of this singer.]
I could tell you who she is but then I’d have to kill you. She is a very secret person who’s identity I am sworn to conceal.
]"

peace =)

I think that small vocal is used in many other tracks...           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

You can hear part of that sample in Shpongle's 'Monster Hit' too if I'm not mistaken.

I feel that if someone's singing is used so much in a track, basically in this case, making the track what it is really, that someone should get credit. First time I've heard the track I went through the cover few times, found no credit of course, and was disappointed. I would be happy if someone can confirm for me who's singing there.           ---------------------------------------------

Well otts album cover says:
"Michelle and Cassie sang through my window"
So I guess they sang all the vocals

some of his voices are sung in the indian way, that special way of singing (dunno how its called now) that only indians can sing a-like, so i guess its not michelle and cassie in this case.
maybe he took them all from some bollywood movie...           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

I found exactly the same sampler in a really old track with no cd cover so....the mistery is still here but.....For sure is not Michele.           My fake plants died, because I did not pretend to water them.

it's probably from spectrasonics Vocal Planet (i think that's the name, it's their extremely expensive sample collection of all kinds of forms of singing from around the world) like just about every other voice on psyambient stuff. an entire section in shpongle's divine moments of truth is lifted from that, vocal and background music, and left as is unprocessed.

my ignorant guess is that old fox Ott is just taking the piss by calling her "a secretive person whose identity i am sworn to protect"
