Call me an "old stick in the Mud" but I am growing more frustrated by the huge amount of singing that we are seeing appearing in Trance music... There have been some memorable moments in trance that have included vocals...granted...but now it seems like we are crossing too many lines here...I like the sound of squelching synths and pumping basslines but I draw the line at howling women's or men's voices that are so hugely enhanced artificially that it seems to remove any real genuine quality from the voice anyway. I don't agree that we can define what is Psychedeic Trance as in that lies its beauty but I think it is possible in many ways to say what it is not...
I don't want to see singing "banned" per se but I think that perhaps a new...yes one more...electronic music form...needs to be invented to incorporate this style and perhaps to avoid it leeking out of sound systems throughout the Psychedelic Trance world...for me Vocal Trance is for MTV not the forests, jungles, deserts and fields of the PsyTrance world....

vocals were cool with tracks like sub 6- ra heya and a few old tracks here and there ........... but after artists reliased the massive commercial potential of vocals in psytrance its come down to pure mtv rubbish now ....... the worse vocals in a track for me would be skazi - revolution (i thinks thats the track name) ..... damn cheeesy to the core "i see u everwhere , the revolutions already being...blah blah" ....

overall i agree with blueOrb, cuz it all depends on how it's done but overall i still prefer voice samples saying either deep or completely stupid things.

too many too much too rubbish i think.

cheers to infected, we now have more and more songs with that "depeche mode through a megaphone" singing.

michelle adamson works on stuff like younger brother or shpongle, where her voice is just like another instrument. IMO any more than that is a mistake.

Its by the artist 'Toxic" and i hope ur kidding about it being Killa?

he has done nothing but add the psytrance bass and beat. !!

God vocals are like
Younger Brother - The Finger
Talpa - The Moon
Bamboo Forest - Breathe
And Tons of Chilled Stuff !!           ~*** You can tell By the way i use my walk, Im a woman's man, No time to Talk***~

dont like singing in trance..... specially when the vocal track seems to be layed right over.

I like some human vocals when they are really imbeded into the track....

twist, tweak, stutter, stammer, slide, echo your vocals into the track and keep the levels low and they can turn out quite powerful....           www.facebook.com/DjJanux

??? no, man i've never heard the actual track but listening to the britney spears song, i always thought the violins and music had potential as a track (although probably more as a practical joke). if that's all you say he did, then he needs to get back to work and give us a descent remi, not a half-assed one.

Like any other element it gets too much when overused (like guitars for instance), and lately it’s definitely been overused, especially by Israeli acts.

I never really liked Infected Mushrooms take on vocals … to me it sounds like the development The Prodigy took on "The Fat On The Land", where Keiths vocals took over (is it by the way just me, or is "IM the supervisor" a ripoff of "Firestarter"?). I think what really kick-started the Israeli wave of amateur singing though was Sub6s "Ra He’Ya", which still is funny and well-produced. What most of the new “singing-acts” does wrong, is that they use totally pointless and uninspiring lyrics, and either use a totally amateur singer (sometimes even themselves) or Michele Adamson. Ok, she has a good voice, but it’s hardly original that so many full on acts have made collaborations with her lately.

The german scene also has some vocal-acts. Elements try is probably my favourite, but also the two Emou albums have been excellent, and the last Haldolium-album was quite good also (much better than "Be Real". Then there’s of course X-Dream, which I didn’t like either.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase
