not really chillout, not really ambient.
They have a very special sound, of their own, atmospheric, delicate.
My favorite 'downtempo(?)', of the last few years.
-Any opinions about them?
-any information about them? they don't write any credits on the covers or website, if anyone knows, post some light in here.

yes, not exaclty ambient but still very chilling.
I like these kind of music especially in these times when I'm ovedosed with all the psy/ambient same old synth sounds.

get the "Agcetis byrjun" album. I like it best

I really, really like Sigur Rós [Translates into 'Victory Rose' from Icelandic]... I bought the new album ( ) about a month ago, and it's absolutely wonderfull...

So quit, so still, so atmoshperic... It's like a wallpaper of emotions... Very very cool!

Also I like the fact that the singer sings in a language he invented himself... You dont really need to know what the words mean - the "speak" for themselves!

Brilliant!

Oh, the last album Ágćtis Byrjun is pretty damn good aswell, and I heard that their first album Von is great too... Haven't heard than one though!

I highly recommend Sigur Rós to anyone interested in expanding their musical taste... Satisfaction guaranteed! ;o)

it's pretty tough to describe their music. the only adjective i can think of is "Atmospheric". Anyway, i tried listening to some Sigur Ros [wich, btw means "victory rose"] a while ago, but i had a hard time connecting to the music. Not enough going on, not enough evolving and some very "below average" studio work & sound production, convinced me that Sigur Ros is not my cup of tea...           MiniMAL cabron...

i recently heard a band called "godspeed you black emperor" and they have a similar kind of sound to sigur ros ...
when i say similar i dont mean "copied" but it just gives of that same kind of vibe ..
for all sigur ros fans i;d say this is highly recommended
any body else heard of them ?

hey people nice thread. I'm a big listener of sigur ros also. I think people liking them should check out mogwai (for sure), explosions in the sky,a silver mount zion, godspeed you black emperor,do make me say think, mum, her space holiday, album leaf. All are hidden treasures if you ask me.

I'd love to see all these live.

The Album Leaf (Jimmy LaValle) has three albums actually:
An Orchestrated Rise to Fall (99), One Day I'll Be on Time (01) and In a Safe Place (04)
The two latter are available at www.amazon.com ; good prices and really fast shipping (at least in Canada)           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.
