dood, its good intentions, but just make music on the weekend

i must disagree with you
good artist that aslo dj , can make lets say 300$X10tracks a year , and around 400$ for dj set. thats offcourse not for begginer but.. after getting abit more famous and better sound you can raise your prices .. i know more then 1-2 peaple living off this.
myself , i still go to work.. even if making 2000$ this year its not enough .. what more that its first time i realy see $ from this after 6 years .. may be the 7th will be more productive.. as well some payments still should come soon..

i don't want to sound rude or anything, but how could anyone even ask themselves this question ?? I mean, unless BNE is trying to sign your new track for about 2000 EURO, how much money do you expect to make off music??

TOTALLY RIGHT!!!

Nearly every second in the "scene" wants to become an artist.

Even some of the "big" acts are damned broke... It is difficult to "make" money with music... specially with trance...

I would advise not to be so silly and quit from your job!!!

If acts like Tegma and Squaremeat still have jobs - maybe keeping a job AND making music is an option too. Just keep that in mind.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Cutie - as i said i have already quit my job. and what is it that makes you think i will make somekind of carrer in psytrance music?

if i would try to do any carrer in the trance genre to make money it would be somekind of "stadium trance" "Club trance" stuff....
you know
Apoptygma Berzerk - Kathys song
Oceanlab
4 Strings

Right now my plans is only to learn more and work more with others. Who knows what i will be doing later on... i dont have any superstar plans, im the kind of person that likes to be in the background.

but its nice to see that you care about my economy

Tommy - yeah for sure, you are welcome over to my place, ill be building the homestudio in the end of this month... so it will take some work before its finished.... im looking forward to some collaborations

Kaz - im going to do some practice in a theatre, and what else i can find that has todo with sound....

sure its hard to live on music, but im just taking some time off from working and doing another type of work

you should keep your job... I mean how else are you going to pay for your music software, sample cds, and all the other stuff you need to buy in order to make music

I don't know where you're from NES, but here in France I know at least half of dozen rock/metal musicians who are also accredited sound engineers (L'ENSMIS (Ecole nationale supérieure des métiers de l'image et du son), Institut national de l’audiovisuel (INA) and SAE), which are considered top schools in their field, and they're working as waiters and shit and BARELY get by.

I don't know what your musical background is, but in my experience, it is a difficult field to pierce into, and when I say pierce I mean getting paid to work in it, no fame or anything like that.

It seems to me from the nonchalance in your post that you must be independantly wealthy or have some sort of safety net you didn't mention. In that case, go for it 100% Cheers

im disgusting wealthy! haha
if so i would have quited my job a long time ago...

im in a union so i got 300 days with 80% of my wage, wont be much money, enough for rent and food and maybe a little pleasure... btw i wont have any internet so ill probably get more work done...

gear is something i worked for and now i got enough to have some fun...but sure i want more, but lets face it, i better do something with what i got, and find out what i really want and need.

and like psycosmo said... money is to be made everywhere.....

im just giving it a chans for sometime.... im not meaning to be nonchalant.... im just feeling good, but i know it will take more hardwork than to work for the gouvernment if i want to earn money on music... still thats not my idea. what happens, happens...

Just do it man forget about work for now and work on some serious music it takes years of love and practice to reach a new level of trance but it does work when you really really love it! Go for it follow your dreams! Follow your hearth and you'll see life is better everyday! Good Luck!
