We are extremely happy to announce that we will be providing FOUR different sustainable living information booths for the Bitter Blossom fest!
The booths will cover:
1) Reduce, Reuse, Recycle:
how can i reduce my waste and where does most waste go
what are the benefits of buying reused products and where can one purchase reused items
what are the benefits of recycling
what can be recycled and what facilities accept certain materials
how can i get involved
2) Organic gardening and sustainable foods:
"Texas is #1... in food insecurity that is. This means that over 16% of households in this great state lack the means to provide consistent nourishment for maintaining health. Access to fresh, nutritious, affordable food by community members is vital in promoting community health and preventing disease. For many urban residents, growing their own food is essential for survival."
Learn how to have your own organic garden, what local foods are in season, why to shop at farmers markets, how to get your community involved with sustainable foods.
3) Disadvantages of Industrial farming and contacting government representatives:
Discover the many issues behind industrial farming. From eggs, to pork, to dairy, to the economy, and to the environment; learn how industrial farming effects you and your
local community. This booth will also cover how to write to your local representatives regarding your community concerns.
4) Sustainable energy:
Information on the TNRCC, the process of permits to companies, and how grandfather loopholes have helped companies obtain permits.
Learn about pollution and health facts, global warming and who the biggest polluters are in Texas.
Learn about solutions with renewable energy, clean transportation, and having the power to choose your own electric provider.
We are looking to work with local groups that specialize in all four areas.
More information to be posted soon.
We are also looking to work with local vegan/veggie vending for the fest.
Any volunteers interested in the help with setting up the booths should contact: bitterblossomfest@gmail.com.
"My (musical) world is a little bit dark... a little bit off-center. I think of it as tragically beautiful. That is how I would describe what I love best: tragically beautiful." (http://www.angelobadalamenti.com/) |

That's more like North Texas/Oklahoma and the midwest. Central Texas is pretty diverse. The place we are throwing the event has held events already with no problems had. All systems go. |
