i just had to review one of my all time favourites of the mini-progg era... probably one of the best cd´s from 2000 imo...

1 Shaukelstuhl 140bpm
2 Creator Rmx 140bpm
3 Gartenzaun Pforte 137 bpm
4 PirT DiquiL 140bpm
5 Microphone 140bpm
6 Psycle Trance Rmx 135bpm
7 Ground Con Troll 136bpm
8 Get Whipped On Double Dipped 147bpm
9 Future m. b. end 87bpm

(t1) this is one of my alltime favourites, such a great buildups, lovely finish and the groove is absolutly magnificent.
(t2) As u might notice the further we come in this review the more times u will read "THE BUILDUP IS GREAT" but lets face, shiva chandra + build up = TRUE and creator rmx is not an exception, once again very good sound and the groove is breathtaking. i just love those pling plong sounds which keeps on spinnin with that high-hat, and the clap work is AMAZING!!!! very very good track (t3) opens up with a kick and some flickering noises... and heres the bassline. A very good groove (as usual along with the buildups). very nice sounds and good fx´s... i love the perwork from daniel vernunft.(t4) opens up quite bad with a kick which doesnt sound good to me... the rest does that kick good thou... very funky piece, filled with kewl sounds and fx´s... nothing for the floor but still.... (t5) i´ve heard rumors of this one (probably because the name) that its almost completly made out of sounds he recorded with his microphone... im sure he played with the sounds but its still a very cool thing to do. and he still keeps that groove, the buildups and that funky feeling.. this cd is so far quite dark but in some weird way very uplifting for me. maybe its a nostalgie trip or something but these tracks makes me very happy. (t6) Still this cd holds top notch quality with good buildups, nice funky beats, groovey basslines and that AMAZING percwork. i just cant get enough of his music... music from and directed o the heart imo... psycle is one of the few tracks on this cd which offers a quite boring yet not annoying melody... very jazzy feeling... and the bongos ohh yes i love it. (t7) opens up with a fine noise playing theme and a nice kick mixed with a original bassline (from the 80´s ) ohhh the percwork in this one is of first class along with the cracky synths... very good track yet not for the floor i guess... and those special hihats that only comes from daniel is worth waiting for. (t8) opens up with a scary sound and some fx´s... just waiting for that kick... absolutly excellent... the groove and feeling almost makes u cry, its beutiful... very fast thou but u wont noticed it cus its so hypnotizing... one of the best around for sure... very good... the buildups is fantastic. take a listen and u will be amazed. (t9) we´re of to the last track a 87 bpm pure hypnotizer, the beat is perfect, nice sounds spinning around... he´s not only good at stompers he is atleast as good in ambience pieces... u should realy try to get you hands on this album, its quite old but im sure u can find it...

favs: 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! 6! 7! 8! 9!

bottom line: get it without hesitating...

I hope u enjoyed it.

A

Seems like you like this CD, Anders. (What was my first clue?)

I'm not usually a big fan of most minimal trance, but this CD is amazing. It's this CD more than any other that showed me how powerful minimal can be.

The dude is a true master of sounds - so carefully, precisely, and perfectly placed. Wow.

And I too find it too be surprisingly uplifting, though it seems at first to be dark. It takes me on a very positive journey.

Last month I was at a festival with my girlfriend and the night music was getting a bit heavy for us at the time. We went back to the tent and took turns listening to this CD!

Brilliant.

Great cd!!!

Creator RMX should be one of my fav "minimal-offbeat-uplifting" tune ever! And Shaukelstuhl is a hit for me, including all the great remixes of this track!

I went in my collection and dug this one up from the depths after recently listening to 'Gecko' the album that came after this one. I must say, I haven't listened to this one a lot since I initially bought it, but this is still a classic for sure.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. Yup, a true classic. Imo this is the best Shiva Chandra album.

Yep. Daniel also collaborated with Philip Wollgast to form Prime Time Plastix, back in the day. They had some top minimal tracks too. Auricular is indeed a cooperation between Mapusa Mapusa & Daniel Vernunft, and while their first album together was much like the Shiva Chandra style, their second one 'Time' (released on Plusquam in 2004) was a little more progressive/funky minded. Anyway, Shiva Chandra is the bomb. This one, 'Gecko' and 'Subsonic' were bombs all the way. Even 'Change of Air', his latest album on Sinn-Tec was pretty good. I wonder if he's working on more stuff now?           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Some tracks can still fit in some mixes, being well accepted from the crowd (the younger one as well) and that's a big proof that good music never dies or get boring.
You did a excellent job when you wiped the dust from it, A.Rosengren.

Btw, i also miss the sound of Haldolium, from the late 1999, 2000, 2001...

+3, this one, Gecko and the first Auricular album are IMO the peak of the minimal era.

Not going to happen, despite my wishes as well, be real ... btw: anyone remember them live @ the lake? Warmed up by Yuli and Nadi back to back?? One of the coolest parties ever. Good days.
