Share your shit. If you sit on something good, give! Don't lock up potential in your own private stash of swag, if the world could benefit from it. The cost of uploading a file is sooo infinitely close to zero, and the joy of a nice juicy sample is priceless.
A producer and friend of mine (NASA, shoutout done!) recently told me, that he asked one of the big accomplished artists for the Hallucinogen signature hihat. The reply was: it's a very rare sample. And nothing else.
Well, no more. Enough of that crap! Lets make it un-rare:

I love the initiative  I just hope this sample (and all other that might get posted here) isn't under copyright, as this isn't a forum to share pirated material (I don't want to be a buzz killer  )
But, from what I know of, I don't possess any rare samples except for the ones I created myself (it's the rare-est it can be!  ).. so not much I can do to help out.. sorry.

For the life of me, I can't find any unambiguous directions as to what is copyright infringement in the world of sampling. Well, besides if I actually record a piece of music, ever-so-tiny, I should be *very* careful.

almost everytime i have asked for something here, it has been fulfilled. i try my best to help if someone needs something too. its amazing and im really thankful but i see where your coming from.
if you think your tips and tricks are what makes you great, and you are scared of sharing them you are missing the point entirely imo.
so what artist did your friend ask please? i hate all this SWIM and foaf stuff!

phonautogram recordings from the 1800s, the oldest recorded audio. recorded onto smoke-blackened paper. some dont have tuning-fork timecodes so they wernt sure what speed to digitize them at (meaning the pitch might not be accurate)

Spot on. To me, creating a piece of music with all the sacred samples, and the hoarded tricks of the trade - it's more like showing off a stamp collection. Sharing the good stuff comes back to you in the form of new creations, more inspiration and returned favours.
But hey, to avoid any personal grudges, I am not going to deface anyone and tell.
Heh, I think I actually had the hydrogen spectra ones, way back. One of them is pretty decent, thanks!
