Hi anyone uses a program LIKE maxivista?

Basically I have a PC tower connected to my monitor but have a KVM switch (means that I share the screen and mouse/keyboard) connected to another laptop and I would like to extend my workspace to that monitor so that I could put like an analyser or something like that while using a Sequencer...

I use Windows 7 in both machines...           Visit me

I used to use Maxivista a lot, in exactly the way you describe: Main PC with single large monitor doing the DAW duties, with a laptop's screen as second monitor for other stuff. It worked really well, although there was of course a tradeoff between update rate and quality, and my old PC at the time wasn't really fast enough to give a smooth update rate when the CPU was being hammered by Cubase on full-tilt. One great thing about it is that it will sync the clipboards on both computers, so you can copy text on the main PC and paste it into a document on the laptop. I don't know of any alternative but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist I certainly got my money's-worth until I upgraded my computer and got a second monitor.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I might be wrong but it looks like this is just for sharing one keyboard and mouse across multiple computers, and not for letting one computer use the screen of another as an extended desktop.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I think it was on maxforlive.com, or some such site, there was a specific plug designed to be able to see what your partner is doing to make it easier to keep together live.....

perhaps this http://copperlan.org/index.php/download/category/copperlan-package
could do it, its got a lot of hairy places I havent yet delved, so its um...

Probable that it theoretically might.           .
