My 2 cents.
Tim, its a great idea, but i think 2 euros is a little too much to pay, for me at least . A typical cd will have 8 tracks and will cost 13 euros, which is something quite a bit cheaper than what you are offering.
I guess it is a business and you gotta try to see what reaction you get at this price in terms of sales. |

>>>too bad they ain't wav???<<<
as long as internet is this slow, wav's will never be an option.
as long as there are still people out there on 56K modems. . there is no chance at all of this.

I'd argue that isn't true. Are you familiar with how many large files are pirated frequently i.e. games, apps, as ISOs? The bandwidth is there, and the demand is there. Is the technology there? I'd claim that with bittorrent, a good net connection, and a bit of fancy coding you can be selling .wavs out of your own home in no time.

well.
you could sell waves.
but still the majority online, don't have a huge bandwidth.
Of course. i would prefer a .wav file myself, as i would like the quality..

Sure.. but the point isn't to replace conventional CD purchases with purchasable .wav downloads - its to augment the way musicians publish music so that they have wider options in their own music and can deliver sounds to a fan-base that is often not above a particular threshold where a label can be making money selling a sound. Maybe only 25% of psy-consumers have the bandwidth to make such a transaction (honestly, I expect more than that even) but that is still a marketplace, and its a completely different world from the physical release market where you need to be reasonably sure you can sell at least 500 copies of something before the music even goes to print. Here you can make 50 sales and still have something substantial to show for it, especially if this is direct to the artist, cutting out all the middle-men! There are plenty of benefits... and some pitfalls, too, I am sure. Here I am just spouting thoughts off my soap box as a way of providing consumer-feedback, but perhaps we should return to Sensient's fine promotion

it is for sure the future of music sales.
and i truly believe that there are many aspects of why the music business has been going down over the past years.
now it's on it's way up again already.
and if you have noticed , like i have, that certain increase in quality over the past years has done a lot.
i believe that there was too much crap music beeing released. (im not to judge from good and less good music) but it makes people buy less.

uhm? if someone paid for it, to get a copy of it, and you sold it to 100 dj's. then it's not unreleased anymore?
and would they really pay for it? most of the dj's i know are people who comes the moral of "do you have any new tracks? want to trade" ???
on the other hand. yes of course some would pay for it, but calling it unreleased is just such a prehistoric word to use.... the point in unreleased, is that no one has it, apart from "special people". . and a few years ago the idea of "special people" went from "dj's and labels" to "everybody who has internet"

Good words Cujo.
About the wav thing - you could use formats like Monkey's Audio which are loseless and take about 50% of the weight.

you could just pack it with a RAR file? ACE ? or one of the other nice packing codecs there is around.?
should make the file a lot smaller?
if we are talking wav!
