This is a bit offtopic, but I need to spill it somewhere

So, as you may know or not know I just came back from my last school trip (last year in school). 3 days in the north of Israel (I'm from the south). Like usual, the school organizes small parties. Let's skip the bitching about not putting trance cause the dude gets paid to get the kids moving. Average kids move to average music. Anyway when he finally comes to electronic music, it's time to throw a rock into his face.
On the first day it was Lasgo and stuff (stupid house with girls singing about love). Oh well 4/4 beat who cares.. Let's dance it. But nooooooooooo.... The DJ has to be "cool" and mess with knobs on his toy Roland mixer and obviously he has no idea on what he's doing so he kills the bass and wonders why no one dances. Let's see you dance when there is no beat to dance to, stupid.
On the second day I wasn't too optimistic... The party was on a beach at "Rosh Hanikra" which is the northest coast location in Israel. You could see the Lebanese border. So the party starts and while there are mainstream songs I go near the sea to the spot where the people-with-girlfriend-but-in-another-school spot. We threw rocks in the water Anyway the DJ starts the trance. I hear 4/4 I run to the dancefloor to discover a Nitzhonot track. I usually like Nitzhonot (melodies and stuff, why not? ) but that was the worst track I heard ever. Sounds like the DJ himself made it using IT during 5 minutes the day before. So I come to him and tell him: "We're no 12 year olds - put some real trance or put nothing at all". Looks like the DJ listens to me and mixes (if you call that a mix) the next track - Symphonatic. I smile with the existance of psytrance in his bag and dance until the next track. Btw - he tried to mix in Bust a Move unsuccessfully during Symphonatic. DUDE!! YOU GOT 2 PIONEERS!@$ USE THE MONITOR TO MIX!$@ Anyway once the track is over he puts weird songs all over again. The entire electronic part of the party was 2 tracks. 1 Nitzhonot and 1 over-played track.

Well, the conclusion:
School DJ's can't mix. If you can't beatmatch, mix on beatless spots of the track. Come on.. How pathetic can he be?..
School DJ's have got the worst taste in music.

Even I can do better than him!!..

But hey, if he did know all those things, he wouldn't be a school DJ.

Anyway, sorry for offtopic bitching.. I'm just so pissed off about this and this seemed like the right place to bitch. And even though music sucked, the trip itself was ok. Israel is a beautiful country.

Welcome to the club, Mike (hehe, "club", I'm entertaining myself ).

I think ppl don't get DJing for what it is - a form of art.
Most ppl think that a DJ is just a guy who "plays stuff". that's why most DJs don't know how to mix, don't build a story, etc.

Most ppl (especially our age), don't understand the idea of "story" and "mixing" and just want to hear their favorite tracks/songs and dance.
So save your energies for the real parties with the real DJs and the real music

In my school, I have the same problems too, but you kinda learn to enjoy the stupidity of the music and DJ and dance your ass off.

Also, the DJs in clubs don't know $hit about mixing and story. Or maybe they do know, but don't want to use their knowleage.

In this year's school trip, the DJ was lame as usual, so at some point we went to the DJ and asked him to play Du Hast by Rammstein. Not a very good song, but has lots of enrgy within it.

Don't expect a school DJ to play good music - he'll be stoned to death right afterwards

lol this is the exact same thing that happend in last year's "party".
that lame ass dj was mixing lams ass songs, and generally in my grade we like electronic music so we asked for trance. then the dj put some old yahel songs and when he saw that no one dances he thought no one likes "psytrance". then i decided to take an initative and gave him a MD and told him what to play' but noooooo its time for salsa! (prick).
finally 15 mins before the party ends and most of the people had left alredy he put "steriliser and tortured brain - the dealer" i danced, enjoyed and promised myself to never trust a school dj.
this guy prolly just bought this equipment and he thoght he could make easy money without any DJ knowledge.

Well the problem is the following.
Everybody thinks that he is a dj.

I remember at my school trip before 2 and a half years where i was the dj and i was playing Nitchonot music (Barkan,Holymen and the rest) and everybody thought i was a real psy trance dj and everyone had an amazing time even people that had no clue about this music LOL

So dont blame school dj's because simply they are not dj's at all

P.S always carry your music on excursions           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

i cannot stand weddings in general for the same reasons...........the music sucks, and i suffer.

well, in my days in school who had parties or DJ at night time?
we had "lights off" at 22:00 on school trips.......hehe.....

cheer up boys, u don't have to enjoy all that goes on at school, and u have the big brothers' events for the real thing
(think about all those kids who don't have a clue, and feel lucky)
"school TRIPS"????
oh, i wish! (could have been wiser earlier)

Hahaha...
Poor Mike.
Whenever we got work trips from work, I always take my c.d player and my case with me.
I don't expect anything from the parties they try to throw, cause I know it would be mainstream, trying to appeal to "everybody's taste".
take your c.d player and your case, go away from the dance floor and listen to YOUR music.

These things always make me laugh.
Actually, when u listen to your music, watch the guys dancing and the d.j trying to mix, it's a funny site, I can assure u.           Majority is never right!

I did take my MD with me, but as a human being being a social creature I wanted to be in a party with other people
Anyway I don't complain for trying to appeal for everybody's taste. I complain on putting trance music which is nobody's taste.
Anyway, that was the last year in school. No more lame parties

Same for me... the lamest party Ive ever been to was a school party. First of all everyone coming there was heavily alcohol addicts, I mean everyone. And they puke everywhere. So I dont think they even cared about the music.

I had a CD with me, which I tried to give the "DJ", but he was like 1m up on the stage with his gay (probably) friend and did like this: They looked like they wanted to get shot

Usually at trance parties it takes me about 1hr of dance just to get "tuned in". At the school party, where the avarage bpm was somewhere around 80 (I dont know) and the music consisted of 60's, rock, pop etc (and of course some "techno" (lol) that was 4 tracks, I only recognized one them that was Darude (not trance).

One thing that is funny though is that when people are drunk they talk much more.           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

ha ha hah ha haha!!!!
that happened last year in a school trip in the end of the year!!!!

the DJ put mainly rock, house, latin & stuff
and he was at least 50 years old
with no cdj's . just an old computer and a small mixer,
he mixed the tracks very badly,
only 1 good thing that he put the cd that i gave him with REAL trance

oh and my school ia now on a trip to Rosh Hanikra, are they going to have a shitty "DJ"?
(I stayed at home because my right hand is in cast (broken)
u can find "Anything U Want" using the search...

i thought it might amuse you guys to know that in the UK one of the most successful night clubs in london is

www.schooldisco.com

they obviously love dj mike music and his pals.. it would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

on the other hand, if this is how people want to have fun thats their business alone.           >>love will tear us apart...<<
