If you like more fullon type sound. There are gigs each week at synchronize. 1015 in downtown Sf brings psy acts all the time as well. Sometimes, if you like more hardcore type of sound, penta, fractal cowboys, parus et al play there also. Mubali, Alen Mental, Amanda (MOE) you get to hear too. Highko, Entropy been to SF to play as well.
There is the annual love parade and How-wierd street fair with different types of electronic stages with thousands of people on the streets. Penta was giving away free cds to the crowds at last years parade.
Telegraph avenue across the bridge in berkeley might be a nice place to hang out for you. Lots of olf hippies and flea markets on the street all the time.. Also Haight Ashbury (Golden Gate Park) is killer to hang out in downtown during the weekends. You got a few beaches too.. Noreaga is killa.
Outdoors happen mostly during the summer months. You got red marines festival and atleast 2 GOA Gil parties - may through oct. There are a few who make killer outdoor parties with like that with 300 - 500 ppl These are more underground. You also got Burning Man which attracts lots of ppl. Here you bring your sound and make big party.
If you want more you go close to LA (most ppl listen only full on) or sometimes you across the border to the mojave for outdoors.
Chill out is liked here as well. Shpongle comes here a lot.
Tribe.net and spooks geomagnetic.tv are good places to look. Spook, Wichdokta make parties too.
If you got friends, you could go outdoors every weekend
Electronic music is everywhere in San Francisco.

Thank you for the info, I'm going to spend June and July at Palo Alto, maybe I can manage to check these places. If you have more tips, don't hesitate to drop them.

@ Full_On If you are here June 13-15, you absolutely MUST show up at the Gemini Festival. All you need to do is say where you are on the 12th, and a ride will be made available for you, I'm sure. |

Yes, I'll be here. I saw the topic, but I didn't know it was near here, there's no location info anywhere.
I'm living at Palo Alto near El Camino Real. I don't have a car (learning to take the buses) and I'm looking for some people to talk while having a coffee or something.
Of course a ride to the Festival would be great too! Please PM me if you want to meet or have useful info, because I arrived in the USA two days ago and I'm kinda lost here.

Eeeek! Palo Alto suuucks.
You can take CalTrain up to the city which is nice.
There used to be a Monday night weekly that went on um...trying to remember...at the lesbian bar on El Camino...does anyone remember/ know if its still going on?
Lets see what else...
at the end of the month there is gonna be a Triple Goddess party in Oakland with an all female dj line up. Amber is coming down from Portland, so, super yay!
I dunno if you have a Tribe account, but there are a lot of sf based message boards there where you could get more info as well. |
