does anyone know wether or not artists bother to clear samples (from movies etc) in tracks they release...
just wondered

It depends on the quality for example if you take the samples from dvd it will not need to be cleaned for sure, but if you take form vhs fro example sometimes it's needed sometimes not, in the end it depends on the quality as i told before. |

i dont think that theres a single psytrance artist who clears movie samples, theres just not enough money to be able to actually pay for the kinds of money theyll be expecting
and i dont think any of the movie producers will ever come across any psytrance either, to be honest |

I don't think anyone is paying copyright for using movie samples, i remember a long time ago there was a problem with some Etnica track wich had a Jim Morrison (doors) sample and it was never released (i think) cos of this but it's the only case i know since i'm connect to the trance scene so i think there's no problem about this.

when u get permission to use a copyrighted sample, you must give credit for it on the cd jacket.
the only psy artist ive ever seen do this, was on the Semsis album.
But there have also been many tracks which did not get released because of the samples they contained.
i remember Digital Psionics wanted to release Cup/Comadose's 'Smack Me' on the Psionic Tonik compilation. But he didnt want to because of the South Park samples.

Don't use samples people, it's not a must and usually it's only for the gimmick.

man, its so fun collecting stuff from movies and anything u can get your ears on!!!
and a vocal sample in just the right places can really complete a track.
sample on i say!

But usually on most tracks it doesn't add anything. Just to make the track longer...

i think it adds a lot.
for sure its not what matters if the track is good or not, but it add atmosphere...
