Hello,
I'm looking for music that can bring tears to people's eyes. Simple music, and not too electronic.

Something that can be played on national radio as background music.

Thanks

The Millimetrik album has some simple moody pieces which could invoke feelings of melancholy, in an enjoyable way!

Eno - Ascent

For me, the ultimate. Always produces the purest emotional thought.

try olie olsen - emptiness(psy-harmonics)
and m-sphere - melancholic senses (insolation)           Music may not take us to the Moon or let us live forever, but as we enter trough the doors it is opening before us, we find things far beyond our everyday experiences..

It's full name is 'An Ending (Ascent)' by Brian Eno. If you search in Google you will probably find it on a lot of ambient/chill-out compilations. I know it is on the soundtrack for the movie '28 Days Later' but i'm sure it's also on a lot more comps. It's a classic! Also, there are some very good remixes of this track that are worth hunting down.

If this helps, this is Eno's Biog/Discog:

Also, i'd highly recommend that you check out Ulrich Schnauss. He has 2 albums out at the moment - both are jam-packed with beautiful melancholic melodies. They are:

'Far Away Trains Passing by'

'A Strangely Isolated Place'

The number of times i have recommended this guy! I should be getting paid

Am i going mad or was this thread just on the 'Ambient & Chill Out' board? Has it just been moved to 'World Music' - and if so, why?           Am i the only one who believes in solipsism?

Also try the Chilled Euphoria, very melancolic chillout remixes of trance classics:

The whole "Apollo" album by Brian Eno is pretty damn melancholic.

Some sad electronic music: Robert Rich, Boards of Canada, Shinjuku Thief, Apparat, Air's "Virgin Suicides" Soundtrack, Arovane, Dntel, All India Radio, Cocorosie, Haujaub, Susumu Yokota, Ulver... There are so many good stuff out there.
