If you can appreciate psykovsky then i see no reason why you shouldnt like south african music. Psykovsky may be higher on the psycho quotient but its not exactly what i would call groovy / danceable .More of a mind fuck , yes? Im not talking about broken toy and protoculture which have the full onish bassline that you're talking about although their msuic definately does make up for the full onish bassline 
Try getting your hands on some phyx , abomination , multistate , commercial hippies. I find most of their material far more groovier and more danceable than most of the stuff around.
If you want a first hand experience of the madness , listen to the first twenty five minutes of the set i posted on the first page. Bound to change your impression a little bit.  missing plug-in |

Sa scene... twilight masters!
Def. one of the biggest things to happen to psytrance, coz they have brought freshness and innovativeness to the psyscene. I rmember years back when i was introduced to psy; "ppl have night music, and ppl have morning msuic; but wat do they play when nightbecomes to day??? " and thats when i heard at one of the partys, some great twilight stuff, ol goodies by shift, DT etc.
Since then the whole SA scene has been centred mostly on the likes of Shift, Phyx, Rabdom L, Xatrik etc and the music was real top notch and really banging.
Having said tht( i have also noted this on Nexus new release ), i would also want to say that of late, the SA sound has become a lil predictable and goin to full on-ish. And its starting to be a lil more techy than psychedelic.
However i feel that its just a phase and as i said they bring in innovations so im sure all of us can expect some great music from them in the future
