In the new mini standard of course. For the price, it feels like for once they are on to something even if they will be VA. Pictures:

Pretty keen for two JP8's daisy chained. If they're priced right I'm sold..           Cuntus Maximus.

I remember the days when ppl made music with whatever they could get their hands on. It didn't matter if it had tinny tiny speaker or analogue or digital. Music is good if it's made for the right reason, passion & soul. It's sad how ppl pay out on the fact that companies are making classic sounds affordable.

It's going to be wonderful to hear these sounds again. I demo'd them at a local shop and it beats the software emulators I've got.

Not convinced by the sound, JP8 sounds the best of the lot though.

Hopefully this motivates a price drop in the originals.

lol. Drop the price? As if. You think that ppl like you won't drive the "original" "analogue" versions higher? This more Than likely will cause a rush for originals and send the price higher.

Btw of course compressed YouTube videos & poor samples sound bad. That's why you demo in store.

Now how maybe I'm not the most famous but my bro owned an origins of each of these in his Roland collection in the 90's when he played in various industrial & dark wave bands and I can say having spent at least a decade around them these don't sound half bad.

They are definitely better than any software emulator. That's a guarantee.           Cuntus Maximus.

Found an original Yamaha DX7 module (TX7) for a quarter of the cost of the new DX series keyboard so it seems logical. The DX7 keyboards seems to have dropped in price too.

I've also rarely preferred a remastered reissue of any record compared to the original.

tbh.. the DX does sound nice
and given that the Origional only had sine waves youd use up a lot of the Opperators trying too get different waveforms..

but the size and layout i find a bit Meh!.

probably would make an amazing rack tho

Dooes anybody else think they missed a beat by not realising the Vapourware synths that were around a couple of years ago!

Just voicing some thoughts here. It's been what, 25-30 years since a lot of these synths have been released? I don't see the point of reissuing all this vintage digital gear, or doing modelling reissues of vintage analog gear.

Reduce the size of analog synths using surface mount technology, yes, am all for that. If Korg can put a 4 voice analog synth into a tiffin box then why cant Roland aim to do the same with the Juno ?

Secondly if you have millions in R&D at your disposal and you're entering the digital world in 2015, why not make a 2015 era digital synth? Something like a hardware version of Serum maybe?

I loved what Roland did with the TR8, now that's how you reinvent the drum machine. Noticed that even the producers who complained about how the sounds we not as good at the original 808 still ended up using it just because it was just that convenient and functional.

But this Boutique line, will have to wait and see. In the meantime though did check out some other demos of these reissues, the sound is great no doubt. It's impressive they do things like noise modelling for chorus effect. Size and weight is a touring musicians dream, carry 2 modules and just make sure there is a weighted midi keyboard on the rider. I can see the appeal there.

sorry woodster, brought up Yamaha gear only as an example of the theory that with reissue prices of originals might drop.

Btw back to Roland 'Boutique', now that this is actually out the real user demos are coming out and I think they have a winner. Patchwise you cant tell them apart, filterwise maybe a bit.

Very good emulations. Ok not exactly bang on, but the character is there.

And off course they are very cheap, sequencer is there, delay...can't fault them really.
