OK, I already used the search engine and had some hits but they were not what I was looking for...

Everyone complains about only full on parties, or only minimal parties, or only progressive parties...
Let's suppose you can design a party line up, ideally what kind of style would be played in each time?
For example (this is just an example):

1:00am - 3:30am --> techtrance
3:30am - 5:30am --> dark full on
5:30am - 6:00am --> just full on
6:00am - 8:00am --> melodic full on
8:00am - 12:00 --> progressive
etc...

Can you help me figure out what style best fit each hour? (Remember I'm from Brazil, here you almost have no choice else than full on 24 hours a day...)
When people listen to minimal stuff? (don't play the funny minimal guy and answer: "all the time").

You want to start with techtrance? And kill everybody from the beginning?
No no no

You should start with dark minimal and move to dark progressive (not that u have much artists left producing such music) and end the set before sunrse either with dark minimal or tech trance.
Then you shoud have full on. At around 11 / noon u should get back to mellow progressive, let's say Mapusa Mapusa style.
This is how I see the line-up           Majority is never right!

Hey full-on...

I'd divide the brilliant thinkin of our friend RG, think nights and then morning/days with a brilliant intersection... get it? Make a progression for the night, then hv some thing good for ur new client the sun, then deal with day time...

I personally think the bpm should come down for climatic reasons only hehehe I mean depending on where ur partie is (specially in Brasil) when it gets f#ckn hot...

I mean, at solaris there were full banging full reverbd kicked full-on music at noon in the driest and hottest place (I LOVED IT) but this should be tried to be avoided (hehehe).

Again personal opnion ok: u can start with something groovier (I'll not name names or genre), then u will need to speed things up a bit, if its cold out there u may hv to put some serious tecnish or even club stuff to heat pp up... Then u get to the dark stuff... this makes the nights... some very sinister very spooky freakadelic dark trance. At sunrise u should show ur game man, every artist has a sunrise set in his mind and it will get even better with a sunset behind him... This is the time. Then mornings haaaaaaaa the mornings just blow everybodys mind with mild fast psychedelia and things should be fine... When the sun has made his way up, I'll let u turn the bpms down hehehe. Sunsets are great to, don't forget them...

Anyhow, if u plain to hv a party with more than 25% of the time with music lower than 140 (I'll gv u 138) then I'll not be really satisfied (say u could state in the flyer or something...)

Well I used to think that it's up to the Deejay to feel what the people dancing in front of him need to get irie !!!!

And about Live-Acts, they should have the choice of their place on the line-up (of course when there isn't an everlasting list)... Because, same same, they should know better than anyone else the impact of their music...

After that, it's another story to find lives & deejays able to do this.

Cheers           .

1:00am - 3:30am --> psychedelic trance
3:30am - 5:30am --> psychedelic trance
5:30am - 6:00am --> psychedelic trance
6:00am - 8:00am --> psychedelic trance
8:00am + --> psychedelic trance

Of course, it has to be something good. That's the clever bit           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

One more factor to add: the right PLACE. I'd have a very different style schedule for the party in the warehouse than I would for the party on the mountainside.

This is how I see the line-up

IMO it will be a perfect line up if you play after the mellow porgressive some good ambient music to chill the soul and ears

and basilisk is right, the music is diffrent for diffrent places... for example in a club i would like to hear more fluffy trance, in in the forest i would like to hear more dark & diggin trance...

Thanks for the replies...
Always keep in mind that the line-up I suggested was just an example...

Ok, kaz line-up is really interesting, but it seems that RaverGirl posted the most sensate line up (acordly to other people posts).
But acordly with her line up, it seems to me there's no space for Dark Soho or Skazi (which I think should play at night).
Then I'm wondering... It seems to be a matter of taste... But the tastes appear to agree in one point: there must be a progression.
The place is also a point to be considered.
Feel free to add any thought.
Respect!

I can't hear more than 4 hours of the same music...

For me, there should be some breakbeats and slower stuff early on, then gradually bring in trance dance music. Move from dark to full on to melodic, without hanging on to one theme too long. Then bring people up with some humor (Aussie/Finnish stuff). End with old school, ambient and chill. That's my great all-night party =)

I'd start off with techy/minimal dark stuff, progress into full on that gets everyone going - pumping, simple tip world or shaffel style sound, then I'd go for the crazy stuff - like kindzadza or shift, and eventually transition into the melodic morning full-on like silicon sound as the sun starts to come up. finish off with a good progressive set. makes a great martini.

progress to masacre dark just before sunrise
