hi guys!
i wanted to discuss reverbs in psytrance and in general. which do you like the most? what sounds most musical for you?
to start with something i did a small comparison of several plugins: TC Powercore Megaverb, TC Native Reverb Plus, 2C Aether, iZotope Ozone 5 Reverb, Oxford Native Reverb, UAD DreamVerb, Waves TrueVerb and SSL X-Verb.
I tried to recreate the same settings in each one, but honestly I wasn't too picky, because this is not a scientific test, just some examples. I did a 10 sec tail, 13 ms ER, no EQ, damping or absorption. The source is Steinberg's The Grand 2. The project was in 96 / 24, but I renedered everything to 44.1 / 16 because this is what 90% of music is today.

It seems to me that X-Verb is a king of VST reverbs, and sounds lush, deep and very musical. TC Megaverb and Aether are killer too.
PS If you want to add more plugins, or hardware reverbs, to this small test, you are welcome! This is the Grand sample I used (96 / 24):

I am a 2c Aether whore, I use it on everything, particularly because its not just a regular reverb, you can make it sound totally unreal and out of this world.
What Im saying is, its not only about the sound quality of the reverb, its also about the modulation possibilities. As far as I know most of these others are more bread & butter types, and they might do that better than Aether, but if you want to sound like you on an alien planet, Aether is awesome!

Lexicon PCM suite.
Space Designer.
Both very editable and great sounding, from natural rooms to exotic, warped weirdness.
Peace out.

haven t listened your file but already did my own shoutout for synthetic source like psy leads/fx ...love x verb i recomend that plug in this forum since years !! (try it on a singer!) i like lexicon too but too expensive for me. (80 euros for x verb thanks ssl but it s not a replacement to the full lexicon bundle but to have both would be great...)
these are my fav i tried, vroom is good too but not as nice to me , in the past i used arst acoutics and convolution verbs that is also great...i also like daw owns reverbs in fact i like most reverbs plugins there is always some intresting sound to get out of them...but x verb is the one i use the most on synth.
uad also have great verbs |

I should try X-verb then.
But at Kvraudio, Valhallaroom is considered to be really one of the best, and I usually trust those geeks over there
My previous goto reverb was the Reverb by Redline audio, and Valhallaroom was a big improvent to my ears.

yeah vroom is great also ,x verb would complement it well imo .(for my taste i couldnt beat xverb with vroom on the tests i have done, xverb always sounding more lush, more depth, but depending the source the opposite probably hapen as xverb just have few algortyhms, it s not the most versatil reverb but when it work it sound great..i recomened you check the manual when using it to read about the algos and other stuff)
vroom at this price it s a nobrainer..
there is also one i forget that is totally underrated, it s one fo the samplitude suite plugins (these plugs were really good imo, underated ), i used it years ago one of the algos could make you cry for verb astrix style ,very emotional sound when well tweaked but x verb or some others verbs probably cover that just as nice ,dunno haven t compared |

if i remember right eos algo was coded by sean costello the guy who make vroom
just saw Vroom is updated with one new algo ! btw when i a/bed it to x verb it was early version didnt a/b with the new algos he added since 1.09 and these are better i think for the sound i was after when comparing to X-verb |

x verb sounds really nice, pom where did you buy it for 80 bucks? looks more like 250€ now??
aether might not be the lushest reverb but defo one of the sickest multi trick ponys for weirdness and space effects, use it day in day out!
the powercore verbs are very basic in function but good soundwise, very lush, especially the classic verb for long tails!
+1 on arts acoustic for really lush tails, one of the best natives i have heard so far
and i would add redline reverb to be amongst the top sounding native reverbs, awesomeness!
i have not yet heard a better plate than the emt emulations on uad, absolutely heavenly smooth!
i love reverbs, so bring more
