hey guys
another thing i cant understand...
why people love remixes (and / or remixing) of other tracks
like, i never make any remixes and dont feel like giving my tracks for remixes.
I think that if the original track worths no attention - no remix will make it very much better, maybe just improve a bit...
And if the original track worths definitely attention - then remix may corrupt its initial touch, feel, whatever...

I surely have heard tons of remixes and off course that "In The Mix" double cd of Astral's followers
well... the truth is that the original tracks sounded better to me (except "Mahadeva", which was remixed really tight but since it was originally cool.. well)

tell me what you think

hey buddy you dont see the fun in it i think ,

if you listen a track and you say " wow thats a cool thing i have some ideas to do it in my way " a good reason to rmx it .

or somebody listens his own track and says "hmm thats not really me , but man i know a dude who can make a monsta of it coz he likes this style or something " another good reason to rmx.

or you just have good friends who do music on their own and you do it just for fun and joy. another good reason for a remix

IMO remixes are a really good thing for the one who gets remixed(nothings more interessting to hear what other do with your samples or arrangements) and for sure for the one who remixes , coz its different as an own track .

i just think you know the wrong ppl dude

anyway

few things...
a remixer give his own touch to the track. (ex. cosma - out of range and the son kite remix).
some remixes are much better than the original!
sometime you see a track and you say to yourself "this part has alot of potential but the original artists didn't put it the right way"

and to hear remixes is also alot of fun.
you hear your favorite track in a different point of view, sometimes in a style which is more like yours.
also i love to see how the remixer used the original parts differently.

i love remixes

here is a related thread from (much) earlier this year... i think the majority opinion that time was that essentially you take a piece of music on its own merits, and if it is a good rmx to a tune you already know then that is a nice bonus...

just a very good example of why remix is a good idea:

Juno Reactor - Feel the Universe
Juno Reactor - Feel the Universe(KoxBox Remix)

just another very good example of why remix is a bad idea:

Hallucinogen - Gamma Goblins
Hallucinogen - Gamma Goblins(GMS Remix)

so as you see - sometimes it's a nice idea and sometimes it's not there is no black and white in our complicated lives...

Hey, man, I liked Hallucinogen - Gamma Goblins(GMS Remix). Almost as good as the original, so itīs very good!

I think remixers just take the idea of a track and make it different. Sometimes itīs good, sometimes itīs bad, but you can always learn something with remixes. If you think the original track is better, just stop listening to the remix. Sometimes remixes are so different from the original, that you can hardly recognize the original track behind it...

That's true, and then if the track was really bad before, now it can be really good, and otherwise...

I also think that Hallucingen(RMX) is nice...

You know how sometimes you listen to a track, and you say to yourself: "wow, cool bassline, cool rythem, cool atmosphere, but somethings missing"... well, a remix can take the good things from a specific track, and combine them with new elements that can make the track more "complete". That's probably the biggest advantage of a remix. Other than that, i've never been a big fan of "remix culture".           MiniMAL cabron...

imho:

rmx is not always a good thing. but sometimes it can make the track more interesting. like in: INFECTED MUSHROOM- wider (really good one)

Astrix made a rmx to it and it became a lot more Energetic for dancing.

In my opinion the good point of the remixes is to show us a different way that an artist could work a song.

I think itīs funny to listen differents perspectives from a song.

But i also agree that sometimes some remixes are boring and donīt give us nothing new!

But there some that i really enjoy like, Science is god rmx, Wider rmx, power up (psycraft rmx), just to name a few...

Take for example remixes from the club trance world. Each track has a radio mix, extended mix, side a mix, side b mix, album mix, etc. Most of them sound basically the same and it just fits the track for a certain destiny. Commercialism at it's best The music is good, though.

hey im agree with Mike A
there're really TONS of remixes for many famous songs, but does it makes the song better? i think it just makes it more famous, and every remix is still based on the same initial song.. like if you change the basis also - then its already not a remix
its like a new song

BrainStorm, you can't agree with me because I didn't gave any opinion. Just showed facts.
Well my opinion is that remixes should be made, but only to give a different style to a track. Not take a full on track, and "hey, why not? Let's recycle it and make another full on track. They sound the same anyway, so no need to make another one!".
Anyway, I'm not talking only about full on. Talking about tech, prog and other genres as well.

I think that every djs can remix song, he can put others ideas in the song... The song are not corrupted by remixes, if the remix is good the song become more rich..
