I don't know if anyone noticed this .. but i think in December 2006 there was a flood of darkpsy releases .. and now in January 2007, it seems a bit dry ..
With so much talent and growing number of darkpsy artists, I wonder why would there be a dip in the releases ..

Amen!Maybe the labels actually realised that they should think seriously of what they release and if its worth releasing it.Quality over Quantity people ! |

About 95% of the dark psy being released is utter crap in my ears, the same goes for full on.
I mean, much of it is downright embarassing, cover art etc.
I feel bad for the labels and artists who really have something to offer, then again I dont think I or anyone else should tell others what they want to do with their ressources(money), if they want to release their "art", they should have the freedom to do so.
Anyways, the more gets released, the less profitable it is, meaning that labels which are not run by rich people stop being able to release music.
Perhaps it also has something to do with releasing stuff before christmas.

@errorhead .. I agree with you on quality over quantity .. but I think there is enough quality stuff out there ..
@krell .. same goes for progressive too, don't you think so .. some good and some bad .. the percentage may vary ..

hmm its a completly logical and very easy to explain thing.
first everybody tries to push out the releases befor x-mas. 2nd most of the labels, distributor and printer are in hollydays for the hollydays.
not an mysterious phenomenon, its just an every year thing with a lot of reasons.

Yes, it does (for all music), but its worrying when such a problem compounds so quickly around a specific subgenre, because it will hamper its further development.

I agree people should show eachother respect but come on now. Everybody are entitled to their own opinion and to say they dont like an artists music or a certain music style.
All this political correctness and fear from critisism is silly. Too many people in this scene have too little opinion or try too hard to be PLUR IMO.
I would rather have a person giving my music critism (constructive of course) than the usual people licking the artists behinds just to look cool and "in". Where's the honesty in that?
