Maybe the reason is the unreleased tracks that are being played by the DJs?           Its the vibe that matters.

Every DJ is using his own source for the music he playes at parties. otherwise, there'll be no difference from one DJ to another.

Yet, if you hear a lot of good trance, there's no way you can't recognize most of the DJ's set. it's probably the drugs...

While on drugs i have more difficulty recognizing songs, especially the beggining and middle of the track. Only when the track is in full power i can recognize it.

its realy hard.. specially most of tracks are unrleased ... if you are a music junkie and listen to a lot of music... and collect.. then you can know a bit better about the background of psy... what track.. where its release... what are the real names of artist etc.. i remember 2-3 years ago i was well educated about this stuff

I think its the best when you've been dancing for hours, then a track you recognise is played and BADABOOM! Dancing goes into overdrive           Progressive, Full-on? Its all good <;}

not all true my friend. don't forget that every dj has it's own taste/style and direction of music that he chooses to play in a set.
oh, and btw most of the morning sets I hear lately do sound a bit the same, at least to me...and mostly boring

i'd rather hear a party full of known released tracks.
i feel much better when i know the track and how it should sound.
you can never apreciate fully a track in the first time you hear it, especially in a booming soundsystem when it's harder to recognise sounds.           REHAB is for quitters

personaly i think i like both unknow trakcs and known tracks at a party... i like hearing trakcs i know and love that way i know where their headed... but i also like to be surprised ... not knowing where the track is going... just flowing with it natrually... it`s the best also... u can`t have a set completly familiar music u`ll be bored...
that`s what i feel about it anyway...
if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

well, u must be a very happy man Gilad, cause in almost every party in israel the morning sets are full of well known traxx, or as I call it "commercial" music.
I personally like to be surprised by the dj once in a while.

i'm always happy no matter what

but let's say 1:3 unknown-known tracks ratio will be good for me (it is true that a full set of familiar tracks is too much)

and btw, i'm more into prog           REHAB is for quitters

it's perfectly normal that you don't recongnize every single track that is played in parties..just think about the amount of sound that is released for example, every month!it's a lot of sound, and you can't hear it all..isn´t it?           Acid is not for every brain - only the healthy, happy, wholesome, handsome, hopeful, humorous, high-velocity should seek these experiences. This elitism is totally self-determined.
Unless you are self-confident, self-directed, self-selected, abstain.

I tend to know around 75% of the tracks progressive DJs play, a half of the techtrance tracks, around 1/3rd of the full-on DJs sets and nearly none of the finnish music... in accordance with what I listen to at home.

Good music is good music, and the DJs play what's good much more than what's unreleased. That's one of the things that make BLT's sets better than the average prog DJ's is that he DOESN'T stick to unreleased only or anything like that, but rather builds the set in a much more logical fassion.

... And about being surprised by the music - the DJ's technique has more to do with that than the track selection... let's admit it, there's not much of a difference between the structures of most tracks in a way that you could be totally off balance. On the other hand, there are DJs out there that could leave you with a mouth gaping open the entire set only with tracks you thought you know by heart.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222
