Just a thread so you can recommend what you recently watched.
It's a sort of "Everybodies Movies recommendations". Nothing personal Mike.

[Paranoid Park | Director: Gus Van Sant]

 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0842929/

It's the story of a skateboarder who finds himself as a suspect to a murder case which happened in a dangerous skateboarder's park.

The scenes are very well directed, and the soundtrack follows it perfectly.

Good movie. It's short, and direct.
 Much better then Elephant (2003).

Considered to be the most terrible director in history.
Amazing performance by Johnny Depp. even better direction from Burton.
 Not surprising at all.

 Great movie!
 Great actors!
Very sensitive and with a serious view of good and bad.
I loved it (especially)till the end!

[Strip Search | Director: Sidney Lumet]

 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376215/

I had never heard about this TV series. I'm not even sure if it's actually a series.

The one I rented, is a 1 hour movie, with 2 parellel situations hapenning at the same time.
Two people being questioned: One of them, an American woman in China; the other, an Arab detained in the US.

The main plot is the Vs between safety secturity measures and personal freedom.

"Would you give up hands on your rights as a citizen in order to save some people?? For what, a week?? How about a year?? A life time??"

Very interesting picture. Could have been longer, imo. It was getting my attention.

PS: I've always found Maggie Gyllenhaal a superhot woman.
I'm crazy about her now, after watching "Strip Search"... |

[The Savages | Director: Tamara Jenkins]

 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0775529/

Very sad, deep and emotional movie, about the life of two brothers (perfectly performed by Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney) that have to take care of their father which suffors from dementia.

This movies shows a bit of how ugly people can get.
And how sad life is, when you start to depend on people.

[In The Name Of The Father | Director: Jim Sheridan]

 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107207/

IRA is stricking England as much as they can. British government releases a law that allows them to arrest any suspect of terrorism for 7 days.
A british pub explodes, and 5 people are killed. In a hurry to find any kind of
responsable for it, 4 innocent Irish people are convicted as charge for the crime.

Day-Lewis, is once again brilliant in his role.

						 [Kontrol | Director: Nimród Antal]

 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373981/

I really liked this movie. Is very underground. Can you imagine what was inside the mind of director when he produced this movie?

 Some words about the movie:
KONTROLL is a Hungarian film from director Nimród Antal. The film is about a group of ticket inspectors in the Hungarian subway system, with the focus on at least one in particular (Bulcsú). Each character is extremely likable, even the passengers become memorable characters, as none of them buy a ticket and are chased or shaken down by the inspectors, which is commonplace in Hungary. There is even a young girl in a bear suit (don't ask) that is absolutely gorgeous. The interaction between her and Bulcsú is sweet and funny. They had the kind of chemistry that is difficult to capture on film.
