the three things that got me hooked were:
1.the visuals (from blacklights and backdrops to those glowing and fractalizing thingies)
2.the most mindboggling sounds
3.goa/psy trance is (sadly) the only kind of music i can really dance to. you know, the dance like nobody's watching cliche 
and as a bonus:
4.this sound made me buy equipment and made me try to do some of my own (before goa it was just wishful thinking and toying with my amiga 500)
