well the top rapper on my list is Snoop Doggy Dog...there aint none like him...his flow is smoothest, Tupac is good but theres no melody in his voice...Snoops got melodic flow. i have been listening to Snoop since a long time and he's one of my favorite musicians of all time. like every time i pop in my The Dogfather cd i just start groovin. i can get bored of other musicians but Snoop never...anytime i hear him it just relaxes me...if i am really pissed off i listen to his cds and it mellows me...on the other hand if i want to get really pumped up and angry i listen to Tupac or DMX.           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

ok going back....

NWA was the shizzy cuz they had Eazy E. who was the best until he died. But in NWA also had Doctor Dre and Ice Cube. Just imagine, Doctor Dre and Ice Cube, and they were'nt even the most recognized out of NWA, Eazy E was.

Then for me Tupac became the best. Then Snoop Dog. All those rappers were "west coast" style rappers. Then Notorious BIG brought it back to the east coast. He was the best for a while. Then Wutang Clan was the best after that, then DMX...

so

eazy e
tupac
snoop dog
notorious BIG
wutang clan

Kanye West is rocks.
I prefer Wu Tang, Eminem, The Roots, The Streets and Sagol59           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

outkast
souls of mischief
the pharcyde
the umc's
gang starr
dj quik (ok, he's p-funk)
digable planets
...
> they have smashing beats n grooves,
good flow in their rhymes and talk mostly about other stuff than bitches and about being gangstas (except dj quik)

hell yeah (cool subject by the way)
let's add a few more such as the genious Rza (wu tang's producer )
cypress hill (best ones in my opinion before they went flirting too much with metal), capone'n noreaga, gangstarr , mos def , mop ,epmd etc...east coast all the way !!!
2pac was cool but his music sometimes tends to get a little too "californian stars and glitters" if you see what i mean, as many west coast producers actually...fun to listen to in the car while summer is hitting hard though
and let's not forget DRE as the guru of west coast hip hop
i read here someone mentionned body count but body count is definitely not hip hop, this was metal , ice cube wasn't really flowing on these albums , sorry
