Random - Implicate Order -=- GeoMagnetic.TV
Released at July, 2006 (in accord to Saikosounds and Beatspace)

Track list:

01. The Implicate - 146
02. Inured - 146
03. Life & Everything - 146
04. Intentionality - 145
05. Personal Game - 144
06. Evil Words - 144
07. Cosmic Puzzle - 145
08. 13 Again rmx - 145
09. The Explicate - 140

This is the debut album of Random (Ross Dubois), a guy who has released some tracks and is busy with the audio engineering of the GeoMagnetic.TV, which is the label responsible for this release. Except for their digipack format, I like GeoMagnetic because of their respect to their fans, placing the bpms on every release and having an excellent online resort for those who want to learn more about their favorite artists: http://www.geomagnetic.tv/

The cover art was made by Random and Dr. Spook, the owner of GeoMagnetic.TV. I must say it is not as beautiful as the usual GeoMagnetic art/design which is usually very good. However, since he thanks Dr. David Bohm for his theories (he was a great quantum mechanical physicist and philosopher), I think I can understand the message of his art design (well, I'm a scientist).
The mastering was made by Chromatone, as with all GeoMagnetic releases, and I think that in spite of the difficulties he did a good job, the reasons why you are going to read bellow.

As with many GeoMagnetic.TV releases, I think there’s a DVD version with animations, but unfortunately I did not have this one.

The music starts at 146 bpm with a diverse and energetic track, in fact one of my favorites. The second track have a different direction, in fact the album is very diverse, each track is different from the others which adds some points to the innovation factor, but cuts the flow for home listening... I assume this was made to played at high volume at parties by a clever DJ. I'm not going to review this release track by track, instead I'll focus on some points I felt while listening this music for some days.

Analyzing and feeling this debut as a whole made me understand it as a useful DJ tool. Each track is something new, and this creates room for surprises... The bass work is well done. One thing I felt is that sometimes there are too many noises at the same time, making it sound weird specially on the faster tracks, that's why I suppose mastering must have been difficult.

The variation on the BPM is nice, making the album even more versatile. The slower tracks sound better to my ears. I could not understand any sample because of their effects. One positive point goes for the total absence of cheese, another two points for the creativity. The psychedelic factor is OK. In short: this is a good deal, specially considering it is a debut album. I have to congratulate Random for this release, I'm sure that starting from here his music will evolve to a even "cleaner" production level.

Recommendation: Being recommended for both night and day, this debut album can add some surprise factor to DJ Sets. It's powered by 9 previously unreleased tracks, with no guitars, no cheese, and a fair bpm range. Also it is original, meaning it has its own style and is not a copy of already released music. I found this release a little above average. On the other side there is space for one more track or a remix.

This is a great debut album from Random, and a long time in coming too

He has been making music longer than almost any other producer in San Francisco, and his mood and energy level has changed thru the years

however he has always kept the highly psychedelic, slightly chaotic and random style (hence his name) that he is known for

big props to him and all the other sf producers that are making a major mark on the global trance scene these days

I'm glad Personal Game is liked.....that started on my laptop and Ross sent that one into the psychedelic stratosphere as he is known to....

As a good friend and collaborator I am so happy and proud to see Ross makin' it and blowing up around the world.

Genuine psychedelia, original ideas, and professional-grade production.

A good balance of chaotic/crazy and melodic sounds - in the same vein as oldskool masters like Ubar Tumar or HuxFlux. This CD hits hard but never gets too hectic or "evil." For people with my taste, this is quality night time music.

You got a point, I was thinking about night music... Forget it...
Anyway, it is above the average night releases for me.
