Well here it is, the second Ketuh recs compilation, out just over a year (i think) after the first one. Ketuh, one of the growing number of portugese psychedelic labels have clearly chosen to keep it genuinely psychedelic, more so imo than on their first compilation. But that doesn't bother me, au contraire my electronic amigos that pleases me .
We kick off with french rising star mr silicon sound, this is smooth full on, not too full on but nice i think. Then a dark nebula, now i have a love hate relationship with dark nebula (actually that is probably overstating it) because sometimes his tracks can be great little nuggets of psy and sometimes his overly raw production ruins it slightly.. i'm just not sure about this one, i think i find the repeated sample a little annoying as well. Moving swiftly on to polaris' track clone; this is pretty rocking full on, nice bass line, not too cluttered, nice sample you get the picture. But woah, wtf is this next baby, membrana. membrana who? i dunno, and i Do care! this track is extremely cool.. for sure it will not be to everyones taste but those with a desire for smthing a bit more psychedelic are going to love it as i do. very twisted and experimental.. not heard anything quite like it for a while. check!
Penta weighs in next with the first of his two contributions to the cd. XML is a nice solid tune especially when it does the dark soho ish thing at the end impressive. Not a big fan of the kluster track i'm afraid, its not bad but somehow the kick is too weak for the assault over the top which is a little busy and unstructured. Lukkas, a new artist as far as i know comes now with some pretty full on machinations that have me jigging in my chair as i write this review.
The second Penta track is again very nice, this guy has a good feel for this sort of thing it seems, good structure and use of sounds i want to hear more of this stuff. And for the "outree" we have fractal glider with a very pleasant morning ish happy tune which i would whistle along to if i could.

This is a good compilation which well showcases i think a label that is starting to find very much its own particular style and take on the scne. With artists albums coming also it will be interesting to hear where they go from here.

And for those of you that bizzarely don't think a review is complete wothout a tracklist...
1) Silicon Sound: The Jaguar
2) Dark Nebula: Down Undertaker
3) Polaris: Clone
4) Membrana: 2F sugar cubes
5) Penta: X M L
6) Kluster: Bom Shiva
7) LuKKas: Mind Kontrol
8) Penta: 1001 Hangovers
9) Fractal Glider: Cicada           >>love will tear us apart...<<

thanks tomanteater
i really like the silicon sound track-smooth is the right word. pentas traxx are powerful , i cant wait to see his album out on spectral concepts(usa) soon!! for those who have not heard of Penta-highly recommended!
membrana, silicon sound, penta and dark nebula are all launching their albums very soon. i think this compilation is a great intro for some of these guys whose music really is innovative and fresh sounding...

the cd is now released and available at www.wirikuta.at and trancetraxx....          BOOM 2006 www.boomfestival.org

this is one of the nicer cd's released nowdays. i generally like all the tracks but i just want to mention membrana whose track is one of the best ones i've heard lately (together with the one on dark 24hours). as tom already said, it is very experimental innovative and intensively psychedelic! the structure of the track is like a car accelerating from 0-200km/h. initially the engine is started and than it starts accelerating untill it totally blows u up
i'm looking really forward to hearing other stuff and prefferably an album from him.

another stand out is dark nebula - down undertaker with its weard twisted, powerful and hilarious atmosphere. one of the better ones i've heard from him.
i like kluster track as well, it surely is a psychedelic monster.

this compilation prooves and intensifies ketuh rec. particular style in music, which keeps evolving in a particular path...
thanks and cheers to all the artist on this comp. and to P_Mac as well who compiled this cd           Why u little !!!
