when you dance in a party, do you prefer the DJ play music you haven't heard, or music that you know and like?

personally, i love hearing tracks i know and heard before, but now its kinda impossible because too much stuff is released. remember the old days when i knew almost everything was played, that was the best....

sorry if the question was asked before, you can erase it

personally,i like hearing stuff i havnt heard.......i seem to get more energy from music i havnt heard.........if a track that i have heard is playing, then i keep thinking when will it finish,or when will he start mixing it........

one thing is there.....you can get tips and understand how the artist is mixing it with a track that you know.......if you dont know the track, you cant expect to gather borrowed knowledge....

Well one of the main reasons why I go to festivals is to listen to new music (unrealesed preferably) but with today's music (this is my opinion guys) I don't mind at all listenening to a few tracks I know and even a couple of classics.
My self, when I make a 3 or 4 hour set I always include quite a few old tracks (not too old). Many times I said "that's it I need to stop playing certain tracks" but I can't do it because when I was preparing a totally new set with today's music it had a lot of energy missing!I only get rid off an old track once a good one is released and it's good enough to replace an old one!

Hi Misha!

I prefer hearing tracks with my style, that I´ve never heard before!

But it´s been a while I go to parties and only listen the same "dancefloor hits tracks"...           LOADING...

Depends on my mood.
If I'm in a progressive kind of mood, I don't mind hearing tracks I've heard before and I like.
If I'm amped and going nuts, I don't want to hear hits or tracks I've gone nuts to before, I want to hear fresh crazy sounds. Hearing hits when I'm going nuts makes me feel used and manipulated and this pisses me off and makes me flip off the DJ and leave the party.

I very much enjoy hearing new and refreshing sounds.
I also like to hear and recognize tracks that I know of, but lately, I've been hearing the same ones over and over again that it's becoming boring.           Live for the journey, not the destination.

Hey Sound Surgeon,, I think it depends.. i mean I would rather hear some new stuff than music that i've heard before,, but it depends on the dj. If he comes up with some nice new stuff then fine you know but if it all sounds the same and nothing trippy... nah,, old stuff is always good i mean in my small group, if someone will listen to a song than the rest of the group will follow that person and start singing and dancin on it like they know it by heart. so ya thats also kinda nice cuz you stand in the middle of the party and you'r like "woww!! this song is awesome!"... or you'r listen and get a nice surprise from the dj.. if its good than im fine with it

i prefer unheard tracks at a gig. that really adds much enery within me..... tracks that I know does not take me to that higher state that new tracks do.

I like the DJ to play an interesting story for me. The story usually has to have enough new elements, unless it's really really good (like a book you can read more than once), but it's nice to have some familiar moments as well.           ---------------------------------------------
