...back with his experiences from Goa it was Johann, together with his partym mate Youth, until then known as partner of Alex Paterson in the ambient and electro project "The Orb" and as bass player in the Wave-Rock band "Killing Joke",who released the first "official" goa dance track. The track was "Jungle High" released on Paul Olkenfold's Perfecto label and was a massive chart success in England...

Yes, forgot about the Orb.

But then it was probably a Shaman several thousand years ago who introduces his people to Trance

goblim.. that cd you posted a link to is absolutely amazing one of the jewels in my collection for sure.. the first track (which as you know is posford) is astoundingly good.. and the rest is nearly as good

re who started trance.. there was no big bang i think.. but the watch out for stella rmx of the age of love by the guy from jam and spoon (called watch out for stella to plug a track jam and spoon were about to release) could well be seeen as a starting pt for some.. but you know, i think it just mutated from house really.. and new wave/electro..           >>love will tear us apart...<<

the ones who invented trance ... didn't know they invented it:
Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Moog Brothers etc. they all had trance&techno elements in their music, but they didn't make
so much emphasis on repeativeness of their music.
listen to kraftwerk's old "pocket calculator" remixes, and u'll
recognize the club-trance sounds & patterns,
and you all go somehow too late - to the 80s.
it was all invented much earlier - in the 70's, and
in the 80s the guys tried to make techno, but took lsd &
forgot to add more different patterns to their tracks, thus "inventing" trance/"acid" ... the only thing they could change in their tracks was twickeling with drum loops and filter knobs...
it was an accident.

What about Dj Bobo?           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."
