I know I should put this in Art section (which I did also), but good to aware people...
We all heard about this but many people think that the thieves are not from inside the scene. Its been happened many times in many way, stolen music, artworks, design, equipments, tools, ideas  , etc. Not much we can do. here is one sample (I hold to mention all my bad stolen stuff in the pass). look at this link:
Here is one sample and scroll down and look the artwork called Atom Blast (what???? I never call this piece such Atom Blast) and never give any permission to copy so.

Really sorry about your situation, Daya. I would contact the person selling the tapestry to seek a resolve and find out about restitution

be carefull peeps, the most danger people could also be from the person you share the plate to eat with, and they always being covered with the "look nice" thingies.
Years ago I ask a friend to install couple pluggos in my barely new laptop. I know that doing this will not take more than an hour. Because he knows that I am not really rushing for it and I have my Tower Machine that I usually use to work at home everyday at that time, so it took about a month for this guy to "doing the favor" (unfortunately not for me, but for his friend). I ask him once if I can pick that laptop, but he says not installed yet because he is busy. Out of curiosity, I send my spy. So my laptop was used by his "good friend" to work during these long time. I just smile and finally got my laptop back in rush. (But back in their mind they think their trick was work but not, I just don't like to argue at that time). Those two fuckers never apology and this is what general people called friendship. And funny thing the pluggos never installed, hahaha...It's just another sample of theft practice too, I guess it's fun to share one of hundreds funny experience.
Oh back to the backdrop, if anyone think their artwork/design might have been stolen, please pm me. I got all picture recorded.

Daya - as you well know this was sorted out as soon as it was brought to light and had nothing directly to do with myself or my site. I'm so tired of seeing you pouring so much negativity on myself and my site and of explaining this to you, I bought backdrops online to sell on, I have to assume what I'm buying is legitimate, when I found out some of the designs including yours and subsequently Susan Sparks' had been 'stolen' I removed all items from sale as I couldn't find out if any other designs were other people's work either and I am not this 'terrible art design thief' you seem to want to make me out to be!
Now I have found out what was happening, and despite the fact all I did was to buy some backdrops to sell, I've publicly apologised and removed the items from sale. Can't you get over it?
Stuff like this happens with every type of merchandise all over the world. The difference with the issue of your 'merchandise' being sold is that I did it unknowingly and stopped when you pointed it out. You're right it's shitty that it happened to you (and Susan) and for my part I'm sorry it did but if you're going to point this negativity somewhere perhaps you should point it at the Indian family who originally painted the backdrops I bought! I imagine they will probably continue to paint your design to sell, I however will not be selling it. Like I said, you're not the first person to have something copied and you definitely won't be the last but I want nothing to do with 'selling stolen designs'. Please accept my apologies and move on. Want to post names/pictures of the people that sold you the stuff? That's a good way to deter people from plagerizing. If you arent willing to take steps against the people who sell you this stuff then how can we here take seriously your claim that you aren't responsible for your merchandise?
Anyway, if this "Indian family" was painting this design, how did they come to steal Chai's design except through someone involved with the scene? Are you sure you didn't commission this "Indian family" to do it?
Not knowing anything about the situation except what is written in this thread, your reply smells of negligence and refusal to take responsibility for the situation.
Taking it down when someone says something is not enough, you have an obligation to take steps to make sure that things like this don't happen again.
