Psytrance parties in Scotland? I'm homesick!

Hey everybody.
I'm from South Africa, where we have a really good, BIG trance scene, loads of outdoor parties n festivals. I'm living in Scotland at the moment and i haven't even met anyone that know what Psy is, and i've been here more than six months!! I'm staying in Edinburgh, but willing to mission for a party.
Anybody know where i can find some parties? or where i can find out about them? Really wanna meet some trippy-monkeys on this side of the world!

i dont know how much they are but you could look at the possibility of flying down to london - i mean if flights r like 30 pounds say or maybe a bit more you could fly to parties - i'd check it out cause it may well be cheaper than you think ! |

there used to be at least one party a month in edinburgh called phosphorescence where charlie monro (james brother) was resident so lots of flying rhino bjs and acts. another night called sublime ran twice a month but only every two months or so was proper psy trance....atmos, quirk, mark allen, manmademan. other student nights ran such as vortex and aswang, spatter (hallucinogen, prometheus, shakta) and gemini.
nowadays i hear about a few one offs here and there, best place to look is down cockburn street for flyers, or in 'list' magazine. around the university is also a good place to look.
edinburgh is mainly drum and bass and techno though, so good luck finding. most of the parties mentioned above ended last spring but there si a good crowd ion edinburgh when a party happens and lots of fit women. enjoy
if you travel down to newcastle there are a few night such as psynapse and trauma. |

What r u talking guys......???? Morph ? Druid ? most of the places in UK is sick and dead !! REAL DEAD....not even the worms would like to eat the DEAD !!! so DEAD .........
Scotland, Coventry, Birmingham, all r fucking sick places in UK.....there r only 2 places in UK............LONDON and BRISTOL !!!
NICC ......i stay in Coventry and for parties you HAVE to come to LONDON or BRISTOL.......or atleast u have to wait for summer, where we can see a lot of parties in the open areas ! that will shift the scene from metros to more towards the villages and country sides..........
NICC...if u would like to come to parties....u could join me.........as I am SICK OF COVENTRY........and would love to meet someone of my taste and carry the culture to the venue together !!
By the time being enjoy with HIP-hop and garage !! BOOOOOOM...

me old shiner. Fear not. There was some umming and arrrring for a bit but my good friend Reevo has just started doing nights in Edinburgh again. They had Junya and Someone else (Shane gobi maybe) playing 10 days ago. sounded good fun (350 people, big for edinburgh). Its synapse in newcastle tonight as well (northumbria student union) with Chris organic playing. After that there's gecko in leeds on the 21st (see flyer on uk forum) and reevo sounds like he has another one coming up (probably outdoors) pretty soon. synapse are planning an outdoor too I think. If you post an e-mail address I will get them to get hold of you as they are the biggest bunch of nutters and you would have a funny time getting spun with them.
If your going to gecko send me a message too as most of the above people will be there and you could link up. like a sort of psychedelic blind date. the mind boggles.

Seems there's light at the end of the tunnel after all, keep the info comin, i really appreciate it. The luna eclipse thing sounds pretty good, will DEF keep an eye open for that one, just hope we get to see the moon, dunno if you guys know what Scottish weather is like!?!?

Willinus: I dunno man, i hate Lonon, its so grimy, dirty and dark, the people are unfriendly, it just sux! Ok, it does seem to host the most parties in the UK, but i'd prefer to find a smaller scene in a better place. I suppose i'm just used to open space, lots of sun-shine and friendly people. (Don't mean to offend anyone, everybody got their own opinion, this is just mine.)
Psy-Druid: Cheers bro! Specifics, I like! Will keep a look out, and yeah, i've noticed the techno thing here. Going to Cockburn Str tomorrow actually, i take it you mean i should look in all the bong-shops & record stores.

yes, thats you best bet!!! i was at uni in edinburgh for 4 years (left last june). when i was there the psy trance snowballed by my last year but literally everything stopped suddenly. i put on gemini with my twin bro, just alittle party which was fun!! anyway, good luck searching and don't listen to willinus, coventry is a hole and any british person will tell you that!!!!  by the way willinus, the trance scene maybe be small in other places around the uk but if you know where to look you can always find them |

We used to get quite a few SA's, aussies & kiwis coming up from London for Planet Zogg in Sheffield as it was a lot friendlier and more manageable size that London parties. Theres obvious advantages in putting on large parties in terms of numbers and acts you can afford to put on, but you can miss that family type feeling. Fortunately Sheffield has always been very friendly - even acid techno nights are very amiable here and D&B nights aren't as moody as other places!
Although Zogg is more towards the high energy trance techno end of things (albeit with a psy edge) - there's plenty of psy parties around the north and middle of England - Gecko & Cabbage in Leeds, Sunrise & Relativity in Manchester, Kulu in Bradford, Alien Resonance in Liverpool, various nights in Leicester.
(Sheffield used to have goa parties like Otherworld, RTTS, Gloworm but sort of went down the hard trance/techno route rather than modern psy-trance).
So there is plenty around - like everyone says - you've just got to look for it. |

NICC: I hope that u r pretty satisfied now with the info........ party buddy..!! I hope that summer will suit ur kinda of party .....outdoor ones........u will see a lot of them happening......we have found a good place in Scotland for a party...!! will let everyone know when things r ready !!
PSYDRUID: u will see changes in Coventry in the next few months....we r gonna organise a rocking trance party ! u will be invited specially !! i bet that.....as a special guest !! hahahahaha......just busy preparing things up for the event !!
by the way....if u know anyone in and around coventry or birmingham, please let me know...cause am unaware of the known parties happening here !! birmingham used to have it a few months back...but now seems to be stopped !!
anyone coming for the AStral Phoenix party in London ?? one of the biggest events in London !

How the fuck you guys don't hear about parties in Edinburgh is beyond me!
We put on 4 in or around Edinburgh in the last 2 months, and went to several others.
Indigitous is by far the best night out in Edinburgh. It's a student run night with one big party a term and one small one held at the Venue. Altom should be playing at the next one which will be awesome.
Edinburgh does have it, you just need to know where to look. I know the guys who organise Synapse, Gloop, Gecko, Omnipsyence, and X merge - and the ones in Edinburgh are bigger than all of these.
