Hey people, just wondering, there is like a huge nexus between wealthy developed countries and their psytrance quality or crazyness. Europe has it going hard, Scandinavian shit, wow. Recently a thread talked about southafrican trance. No doubt Japan has some interesting sutff... But, what about the united States, being the most powerful and rotten country i would expect some raging and ravingly wacko trance... How is the States scene and music?
Thanx people, by the way, the southafrican demos posted on Phix, Damage and Broken Toy record company webpage was no big of a deal. Still going deeper in scandi and loving it... Sure the flangered snares and hats make a cool beat by the efect itsefl, still...

Well, i don't see where is the connection between good music and wealthy developed countries. Southafrica isn't a developed countrie and may be the most developed from the African continent, but still then, poor and undeveloped...

We have great artists in India, SouthAfrica, Brazil, Mexico, Greece... none of them are super-grown (developed)...

Answering your question: USA has a psychedelic scene, and it's not the smallest one.           we are one.

okay, may seems wired, my minds:...i made a connection between countries which has a high suicide-quote for adolescents dependent on how much ppl listen to psy...but ( the public/listener, not the artists )
...well...today it may have change, but some years ago countries which have much suicides had bigger scenes too ( swizz, israhell, scand, germany... )

about the states: it s a pitty...ppl there sould do more minds about "gaia"...

bom           experiment !
make it your motto day and night.
experiment,
and it will lead you to the light.
the apple on the top of the tree
is never too high to achieve,
so take an example from eve...
experiment !

hey ppl, dont get me wrong. Mexican psy scene is crazy, but we do not have as many artists as some other countries have. Of course good artist and good parties take place in the "3rd" world, but come on...

The US scene is small, but growing fast. There are big parties, and festivals all over the place - especially on the coasts. EDM is very popular here - psytrance just hasn't made a foothold in the past... not sure why, really, since other types of psychedelic music are huge (Dead/Phish especially) and such luminaries as Terrence McKenna, Stanislav Grof, Alex Grey, etc. are from this country.

i think a big part of the reason that it isn't so exposed in the u.s. is because there are so many other types of EDM that are much more established already. the usa has a long history of electoronic artists (detroit techno, chicago/nyc/sf house, florida breakbeat) and so this is what people are first exposed to when they go to a club or even turn on the radio... and most of the EDM that comes from overseas comes from the UK. granted, there are lots of psy artists that come from britain.. but there are many more that produce drum & bass, club trance, breakbeat, and progressive house. when you go to a record store here, you only really find stuff from these other genres because that is what is familiar.. and many stores have never even heard of distributors such as cosmophia, let alone the labels that they represent. vinyl is still king here, and the only cds that most stores here carry are mixed sets (such as the 'global underground' series)..

Yeah, and there are a few more producers on the East Coast. A few of them are truly innovative, and I have hope in the future of the scene. But compared to the size of the country, this is nothing... though lately it seems there are parties everywhere. Still we've got a lot of work to do.

Also, I am not buying Spun records being an American label - not a single artist they release is American, and they are not doing anything for the US scene. They might as well be in Ibiza.

Penta has lived in the US for a long time, I think. There are a lot of Russians in the psy scene in the US, especially in New York. Also a lot of Israelis, like Quadra.

Goa Gil is an American, yes, though he is here as much as he is anywhere else, I guess.
