2. lack of appreciation. promoters losing money. Dark/trauma trance is eclipsing psy-trance, and dividing our tiny scene down the middle.

hey man really , what ur problem with the variety of trance, including dark trance?? (and what is "trauma trance anyway") . do u feel in menace, because of the popularity of this kind of music. u talk of unity , and at the same time not leaving place for diversity. i love psy trance from the start, and try to look beyond trends for good music. as there is light and morning and melodic trance , there is the dark side and it must be so there can be balance. the key to this is respect, tolerance and diversity. and that attitude towards "dark trance" is really not helping. i really dont get why such prejudice to music other than ur preferences. well what can i say , every post from you , is to turn light vs dark psytrance... there is room for every taste in my opinion.. well don t mind me im drunk.

Well, I guess that your scene in the US, is in a much better condition, compared to the European and subsequently to the Greek one, in which I have lived and grown. I think that you (we) should try to keep it true. and avoid the commercialisation of this music. When artists become stars, and they shouldn't, when they charge thousands for a 2 hours long "live", and they shouldn't, when you pay lots of money for a ticket, and you shouldn't, it means that things have gone wrong...And that's what's going on, in Europe and in Greece. It's a fact. This music was made to be different, it was meant to give the underground a new sense. Now, it seems like a drugfest, and lots of people in between making money. Lots of them. I watch some videos on the net, taken from some massive festivals. I should feel fine, in terms that the music i loved and followed finally became acceptable and massive for the people. In the end though, I felt a bitter taste of frustration, because it all seemed as a money-making circus. Just keep it underground, keep it low down. Attract people in ways proper to the initial values of this music. ...I'd like to say more, but I guess that's enough. I'm just so depressed with what the whole thing meant to me, and what it actually is now.           Bring yourselves into the light

I think it is the dark vs not-dark debate that is truly unhealthy. In my view, what is healthy is a balanced emotional diet. That means exploring both the dark and the light, the disturbing and the beautiful.
I think it is a problem when people people are in tune with one side but not the other. If one cannot listen to music that explores the dark, unpleasant, edgy side of emotional experience, I think that is a sign of weakness. Darkness is part of the human experience, and to fail to confront it is by no means it triumph over it. On the contrary, I think that the way to deal with the darkness in my soul is to face it, accept it as a part of me, and balance it with my higher faculties like love, reason and compassion.
On the other hand, it also bothers me when people are so into their dark side that they cannot appreciate something uplifiting. There’s nothing wrong with things that are soft and fluffy and happy, and I think it is a shame that some people deny themselves those things. I think that rejecting that side of human experience is unhealthy as well.
I think they key is to learn to love and appreciate each emotional and mental state for what it is, to recognize it as a beutiful, valid and natural part of human experience. We should celebrate all of our emotions and give thanks for the ability to have them. Appreciation of the full spectrum of feeling is definately something I value!

I think really the issue isn't dark music vs fluffy music but shitty dark music and shitty fluffy music. They both suck. Good music is god music and is generally appreciated by everyone.
